minor dissapointments

these are just some things that im not fond of that are in Halo 4, nothing game breaking but annoying enough to take note of.

1: dropped weapons, any weapon in MM or spartan ops that are dropped by a kill or ordinance vanish WAY too fast IMHO, i cant count how many times if killed some one, go to get the weapon/ammo or some thing only to find that its already gone, its like it has a timed life of 3 seconds or some thing.

2: Spartan op maps, most of them i would say are awesome, but sniper alley if im not mistaken is taken from the campaign, now for a one time use ok thats fine and every thing, but we have been there 3 times now, im personally getting sick of that map, it feels like its just a map of connivance or some thing.

not to mention the Valhalla/Ragnarok map now, i love the play of it, but its in MM already and … what the hell? did you guys fire the map making team? i mean come on, Ragnarok from my experience is one of the most played maps probably because every one wants the mantis among other things, if its not picked it was a close vote between it and what ever other one was played.

that was really the only thing in Reach FF that annoyed me was maps taken from the campaign, now we get to do it all over again?

3: weapon sound FX, i dont know about any one else, but the new sound for the Fuel Rod Gun i personally think BLOWS, same with the rocket launcher and the scorpion tank cannon, im sure there are others i could list.

the FRG makes me think of a empty pringels can being rolled on the floor, the old sound was loud, powerful and right away made me want to duck and find cover, this does not, it gives me a o.O WTF? feeling more than any thing.

rocket launcher and scorpion tank gives me the feel of a pressure valve being released on a long pipe or some thing, a tanks cannon is some thing that is supposed to make you tremble with fear when on the receiving end and some kind of an adrenalin rush when your the one using it, maybe not literally but you get my point.

its more or less the same with the rocket launcher, i mean what are you going to use next? 70’s 80’s style pew pew sounds from some ones voice?

4: missing weapons, it might just be me, but even though from what i understand, these covies are nor part of the OFFICIAL main covie army, there more or less rogue faction or some thing, it explains thier appearance etc, but why dont they have the plasma rifle? i mean it was more or less the trademark weapon of the elites next to the energy sword and just as much like the AR, i mean i could understand that the storm rifle might be better in terms of spray or what not, but its some thing that i personally feel is some thing that is missing.

5: vehicles, why isnt there a UNSC flying unit? i would have been happy with the return of the hornet or falcon, ether way as long as there was some thing other than the banshee, dont get me wrong i love the banshee too, but once again, its like there is some thing missing, again it could just be me, but thats how i see it.

Oh man, I gotta echo your statement about weapon despawn.

Seriously, if you just grabbed an ordinance drop, and get killed, guess what? YOU CAN KISS THAT THING GOODBYE, because no matter what, you will almost never get back to it in time.

Once, in BTB, I got a s’plaser and was ready to take out the enemy’s mantis.

BOOM. Sniped.

Ran back to where I died, and it was GONE, allowing the mantis to wreak havoc just enough to cost us the game.

yeah the weapon despawn is a PAIN, while its possible that some one garbed the spartan laser, ive been dancing around a killed enemy fighting another, after i kill the 2nd guy i go to get the wanted weapon only to find its gone, the despanwing of weapons should be more or less the same as in Reach or some thing because thats just redonckuless.

I do think it would be cool to bring back a UNSC air unit. They could do the same thing they did with the banshee as far as not being able to hover so you couldn’t just sit there and camp an area, you have to fly around even if you’re in the same general area. You have a UNSC/Covie vehicle type for both armr and light vehicles, why not for aircraft?

well there is a pro and con on both for being able to hover or not.

Hover:

Pro you can sit there and slowly follow your target till you kill it.

Con if your sitting there your an easy target for a Spartan laser or other heavy weapons.

personally i would rather the hornet comes back, the one with the missle pods too, just have to tweek its missile ability so its not like in Halo 3 of wave after wave of an avoidable missiles.

another thing ive noticed with the scorp tank is that its harder to fire at longer range, like the shell starts to fall like throwing a football or some thing, it can make the distance but the aim is off.

found that in the Spartan Ops mission VIP trying to shoot at covies on the other side of the canyon.

I’d like to add one thing to the disappointment list;

  1. Why is theatre mode not available for campaign nor Spartan Ops? Restricting it to War Games and Forge is def on the limited side. I’m the type of player who likes to get good clips and images from every game mode, but to limit my only options to MM and forge really sucks.

Thruster pack - Has anyone else noticed that the thruster pack in Campaign is stronger than the thruster pack in War Games and Spartan Ops? Seriously, the Campaign version goes about the same distance as Halo: Reach’s evade did, but the non-Campaign thruster pack goes only half that distance making it unusable. I really like the thruster pack, especially since you can use it in mid-air, but when I fly left to avoid a Banshee bomb, I still die. Why would anyone design an armor ability that works differently in different modes? I just don’t get it.

I really hate the weapon despawning, other than that pretty much its a great game.
