Don’t be fooled by what 343i says, that Mini Slayer “has only been played by staff members & visitors”, because the fact is, that’s an outright fabrication. As some have mentioned before, this gametype has existed outside of 343i for quite some time now… I have actually played this numerous times in Custom Games already.
The original Mini Slayer is a pure community made gametype, and there’s more where that came from. This is just a fraction of what a small community have been working on, and I guarantee you there will be more awesome creations MADE BY THE COMMUNITY that will soon come into existence.
> I have seen this before. When you die, your dead spartan looks like a necromorph. Good to see they disabled melee because with the tiny hitbox it is almost impossible to punch somebody.
It seems that games are getting extremely gimmicky. In a good way, of course. But I just don’t understand these playlists. They’re just not competitive enough and everyone one just plays around instead of attacking the opposing team. This is my own opinion of course. But I just prefer more simpler game types such as Team Slayer. But of course I’ll give it a few tries because I can’t judge it without playing it. I would like other game types that are competitive but fun. But I think that 343i is doing a fantastic job and all these updates are just to make the game better. I’ve just got one question, is the game type only on the map “Rail” or on other built in or community maps. If it’s just 1 map then the rotation would be very limited. But yet again I haven’t played “Rail” either so I’m not judging anything to anyone. I’m just simply a Halo fan posting a comment questioning the game type: “Mini Slayer” and complimenting 343i on producing so many well crafted game types. So that’s about it, so just summarizing I think that this new game type is a well crafted game type (Mini Slayer) and complimenting 343i on such a great amount of new game types ready and all at our disposal.

Not sure why it’s limited to Rail other than they want to confine it to a tight space. I assume we’ll be able to do what we want with it in Custom Games.
If they’re looking for ideas, why not hold a Forge contest to create maps for the Microverse?

They made it themselves and applied other tweaks to it. Their version “has only been played by staff members & visitors”.
> Did 343 even bother giving credit to the guy that modded the gametype originally? Or did they just take it all for themselves?
Credit for what, exactly? Being the first to publicly use a player trait that 343 personally added to the engine with sole the intent of using it as some point?
The only people attacking 343 for “using modded gametypes” are the people that don’t know what they are talking about.
The people who are actually modding these gametypes are glad 343 is finally making use of these previously untouched traits and settings.

That may be true, but it doesn’t change the fact that this gametype is not an original idea by 343i… heck, even the name itself was a blatant ripoff if I’ve ever seen one. I’m willing to bet that they will use the exact same player model size as what we’ve seen in the community version.

While I agree it would be nice to see 343 acknowledge that the community originally made this gametype, but they’re not going to be allowed to. It was done outside of the Microsoft Xbox Live Terms of Use, even if they want to thank those that made it they can’t unless MS approves 343 condoning the use/creation of modified content in this way.

Well to even include a scaling trait would mean they had the idea long before the game was out.
> Sounds like fun, but disheartening to know that this is probably the closest we’ll get to a Classic Slayer playlist.
>
> I mean, you’ll give us equal AR starts for an Action Sack gametype, but no actual Team Slayer playlist? Kind of annoying…
Legendary Slayer will be released early summer and that is kind of Classic Slayer
The full-size holograms are a nice touch. Just have to learn to suppress my melee instincts in close.
I strongly recommend giving it a whirl, but for anyone who’s curious and doesn’t want to venture into matchmaking, I’ve uploaded the Mini Slayer gametype and Rail map into my fileshare.
Mini slayer is pretty poor in practice, the hitboxes just don’t work.
tested it out in customs, reticule is red with beam and sniper, still misses. Moved it a bit more onto the player, still misses…
Railgun, half the centre reticule is on the player, still misses…
Sword, if lunging near extreme range, you’ll pull up short and not kill them…

I find it funny that Mini-Slayer came to be via modders and became widespread enough that 343 took notice then proceeded to recreated the game type and called it their own.
Also how much you guys want to beat this post will probably be marked with “This post has been edited by a moderator. Please do not discuss modifying or hacking content on an Xbox console.” because they want to hide the true which they cant because everybody knows where the original game-type came from.
Still I am glad they decided to add the game-type online instead of destroying it.
They aren’t calling it their own, though they easily could and nobody who actually matters would care.
Modders simply made use of an existing player trait publicly before 343 did.
343 aren’t trying to hide anything, modding discussion has always been against the rules here.
You guys are trying to create a big issue out of nothing. Nobody that actually matter in these arguments (the modders you are defending) care that 343 made their own scale trait gametype and put it in matchmaking. Not a single one.
