That wasn’t Colter though, that was the new guy apparently.

Nope. In the conquering hero and the prologue, epilogue of H2A, it was Colter. Anything related to E3, was the new guy. The new guy actually brings some deepness into Locke’s voice, it’s very intimidating. I love it

No it wasn’t. The Conquering Hero trailer had Amadi voicing Locke. He even references the trailer on his twitter as you can see in the link below. Colter only voiced Locke for Nightfall, the H2A terminals, and the H2A bookend cutscenes

Maybe lore is the wrong word here (was half asleep at the time). It just always bothers me when voice actors change and this character is very prominent too so I was wondering if there was going to be something to “explain the change away”.

There’s no need to explain anything. We’ve only heard Colter say about half a dozen lines in the H2A prologue/epilogue - everything else since then has been Amadi. And honestly, he sounds enough like Colter it’s hardly a jarring transition. As other people have mentioned, the recasts of Truth and Miranda Keyes were way more noticeable and those didn’t get in-universe explanations. Sometimes an actor just gets changed, that’s all there it to it, and the story goes on like normal. (Just look at the Marvel movies.)

What do you mean? Miranda Keys and the Prophet of Truth had different voice actors for Halo 2 and 3 (which clearly people mentioned before me. I didn’t read the whole thread). Locke getting a new voice actor isn’t that big of a deal. Matter of fact I am quite happy this happened. His voice acting is not that great. What I want to know is how does this clash with Marvel? It’s not like they are the same character.
Based on what I’ve seen of Colter’s voice acting in the Halo 2 Anniversary Prologue and Epilogue, it’s a welcome change in my opinion. I’m sure Locke isn’t a terrible actor under the right direction. But his voice acting came across as a tad mediocre and forced. At least Ikè Amadi sounds enough like Locke but is a noticeably better voice actor.
You can’t say the same for Truth and Miranda in Halo 3.That was just an awkward switch and the characters ended up feeling different. Yet, it didn’t ruin the canon as some are suggesting.

Doesn’t every character “play themself” if they’re using the likeness for the character? Colter gave most of his likeness to Locke, but he didn’t end up voicing him long-term.

I think they should switch based on the scenario, something like the all hail commercial fits Ike better, but in conversation I approve of Mike. Is that realky the reason though? That’s lame if it’s true, who cares if he’s on the Marvel series, if he’s too busy then that was just a bad decision on 343s part.

> It was a scheduling issue; thankfully 343i didn’t just leave him out to dry. He still seemed happy about doing the mo-cap in the Sprint footage though.
Do you have link to that footage you’re referring to?
