Mike Colter isn't the voice of Locke anymore.

Neither did I. Either way I like both voices.

well I guess it was the new voice actor who did the live action trailer, and he had much more ferocity and intensity to his voice and overall more skill as a voice actor than Colter, however its weird that we have Colter’s face/Amadi’s voice as Locke now. I think its for the better though.

Well when they remade Halo 2 they had people who looked like Miranda Keyes and Sgt. Johnson to mouth the words and then have the original audio go over it. Its not very surprising to me.

Read everything up until that point actually, I just didn’t see any proof.

I think his voice acting sucked, except in the Conquering Hero commercial. It was actually pretty badass there. Sucks that there has to be this fragment because of a scheduling error.

I honestly don’t see any difference between this situation and when the voice actor for the Prophet of Truth changed from Michael Wincott in Halo 2 to Terence Stamp in Halo 3, or when the voice of Miranda Keyes changed from Julie Benz in Halo 2 to Justis Bolding in Halo 3. Those were noticeable differences, but they didn’t need to be explained in lore, they were just artistic choices. Likewise, it’s not like there isn’t precedent for casting game characters differently in non-game media, as was done in Halo Legends.

That wasn’t Colter though, that was the new guy apparently.

I thought I noticed it in the E3 trailer, I guess this just confirms it.

The new guy totally nailed his lines in the Locke trailer, so I can’t say I have any complaint. His voice isn’t a huge contrast either.

Nope. In the conquering hero and the prologue, epilogue of H2A, it was Colter. Anything related to E3, was the new guy. The new guy actually brings some deepness into Locke’s voice, it’s very intimidating. I love it

No it wasn’t. The Conquering Hero trailer had Amadi voicing Locke. He even references the trailer on his twitter as you can see in the link below. Colter only voiced Locke for Nightfall, the H2A terminals, and the H2A bookend cutscenes

I think the real question we should be asking is if Joe Staten is voicing the Grunts again.

Maybe lore is the wrong word here (was half asleep at the time). It just always bothers me when voice actors change and this character is very prominent too so I was wondering if there was going to be something to “explain the change away”.

There’s no need to explain anything. We’ve only heard Colter say about half a dozen lines in the H2A prologue/epilogue - everything else since then has been Amadi. And honestly, he sounds enough like Colter it’s hardly a jarring transition. As other people have mentioned, the recasts of Truth and Miranda Keyes were way more noticeable and those didn’t get in-universe explanations. Sometimes an actor just gets changed, that’s all there it to it, and the story goes on like normal. (Just look at the Marvel movies.)

So this means we can say Lock is made of Mike & Ike.

I don’t think it needs explanation. Truth and Amanda Keys changed voice actors and no one really cared.

Well If this doesn’t make 343i have to bump off Locke sooner rather then later they must be hell bent on making a Locke Halo spinoff series

I’m surprised his contract didn’t “Locke” him down. You know to prevent him doing work that interfered with his duties on Halo 5.

Unless of course, like others have speculated that either he, 343i or both weren’t happy with the work.

As long as they go 100% Amadi i’m good, I don’t want them to switch between Mike and Amadi when ever Mike can do voice acting.

What do you mean? Miranda Keys and the Prophet of Truth had different voice actors for Halo 2 and 3 (which clearly people mentioned before me. I didn’t read the whole thread). Locke getting a new voice actor isn’t that big of a deal. Matter of fact I am quite happy this happened. His voice acting is not that great. What I want to know is how does this clash with Marvel? It’s not like they are the same character.

Didn’t realise that it was a different voice actor in the E3 gameplay. I guess I’m okay with this then.
