If, by some chance, we see either of these two maps again in the next Halo game, which one would you prefer to play on for the next Halo?
I say haven because it was a stunning map that was designed quite well for sprint
guardian
Haven, but a smaller version of it that fits with Halo 5s no sprint

But I like sprint…
SNOWBOUND!!!
I hate snowbound
I understand Midship has been remade in Halo 3 and again as Onyx in H4 however I for one am pretty bored of Haven.
TBI I would rather have a different map. Maybe a map like Skyline seen as it’s not exactly over played.
Warlock…or…ZANZIBAR…
Difficult question - Midship is going to get destroyed by terrible mechanics and Haven sucks compared to older maps.
Midship if no sprint. I was never a big fan of Haven anyway. I don’t like or dislike Haven–I consider it “tolerable.”
Midship. If there is sprint then I simply don’t care cause the game is already ruined anyways.
What a big shock! The Halo 2/3 map is receiving more approval then the Halo 4 map.
But yeah, Midship is better. The abundance of plasma grenades in that stage is why I love it. But with Sprint, that map would be destroyed. You could run from side to the other in 5 seconds.

Which is exactly why I’m voting for Midship!
Honestly, Midship is a far superior map in every way. It has a much more interesting design, and isn’t completely oversized for a small map. On Midship, the shotgun was a useful power weapon that could give any player using it a significant advantage, but it wasn’t so powerful that you could thoughtlessly dominate with it.
On Haven, you can’t even use a shotgun without getting destroyed at long range by a BR or DMR. There is no way to effictively use close-ranged weapons for more than 2-3 kills before somebody at the other end of a hallway kills you. That’s rather sad for what’s supposed to be one of the smallest maps in the game…

You raise a good point here but COUNTER-ARGUMENT! …adrift is kinda nice for cqc…
The only real similarities between Midship and Haven is that they’re both 4v4 maps and are both symmetrical. Otherwise, the maps are completely different and play nothing like each other not are intended to.
Midship is more of a get-to-the-top map that revolves around map control whilst Haven is a map that revolves around movement and never staying in one place at once.
Now, since the maps aren’t very comparable, I’m going to pick the one that I enjoyed the most. Haven.
I don’t know.
To be honest I wouldn’t prefer any of these two to be remade. Maps with a theme like Midship and Haven have been made way too often and as a result I’ve become quite tired of such maps.

I agree, we need change…
Maybe a UNSC styled approach, Insurrection, maybe Covenant themed would seem better?
But if I’d have to choose…
Midship, as I’d actually like to be able to use CQC power weapons and not be killed if I step out of the middle with the sword.
I can only really use a CQC power weapon when I’m on Adrift or Lockout anyways…
However I enjoyed Haven more and its good sprint designed layout…which Halo 4 severely lacks.

I was actually addressing their constructional theme not their aesthetics.
I think there are too many maps in Halo that are build up way too similar: centric, horizontal and symmetrical.
And hence they play and flow too similar and not individual.

OBJECTION!!!.. Midship is too purple and also grenade spamming, grenade spamming everywhere. Also I’ve done quite well with a shotgun on haven in the past.
I liked both equally. I couldn’t choose. Haven was honestly a stunning map in my opinion, but so was Midship.

So Covenant themed maps are bad? Is that seriously an argument your making? Think that through carefully, Seriously, I can just as easily say: I hate Haven, its to silver and shiny, so it shouldn’t be Forerunner themed. Also, Haven is hardly a Haven from grenade spamming. given In Halo 4 you can spawn with up to 3 grenades, and Halo 2 you could spawn with 1, yeah, Haven has less grenade spam my -Yoink-.
Further more, Haven greatly suffers from Lack of Neutral Power positions and Long, flat sightlines rending CQC weapons less desirable on one of Halo 4’s smallest maps, and just cause you did well a few times proves nothing. I have got a frenzy with the Hammer on Meltdown, doesn’t mean it’s a good map for it, it means I played well to the situations, and got lucky.
It lacks Good weapon Balance, And is made worse by the Ammo Perk. The sniper is unfair, as it dominates long flat sightlines that are present on the map, and has no real counters present on the map. Sword is only useful in a skilled players hands and the Concussion Rifle is… The Halo 4 Concussion Rifle. That weapon is so under powered it’s ridiculous, and is so stupid that it is that under powered, all it needs is a buff for it to be a 2 Direct Hit Kill.
Haven is littered with lazy cover (cover that is there just to be cover, with no other use), which is a trend on most of Halo 4’s maps, Haven isn’t the worst cough Solace cough but its still bad.
Sprint Has ruined Halo’s map layouts, and it’s a simple circle of why it cannot work.
We are putting sprint in Halo, and here is the circle of how it screws up maps.
Developers: we have to enlarge the maps to make way for it.
Protesters: So whats the point? Map travel Time is inherently Equal to the sprintless Halo games, so renders the sprint moot, and simply adds a mechanic that means players who make bad decisions to escape, which is unfair. and CQC weapons have less of a Niche, and are basically useless.
Developers: Ok, we leave map size the same, so sprint actually has an effect.
Protesters: That screws up the punishment for Dying, causing players to much more easily reach a point on the map the just lost. Also, It messes with a maps spawning mechanics, and will result in more spawn killing. it also makes the ability to easily escape a bad decision easier.
And the circle repeats itself.
That’s why Sprint fails in Halo. Base movement speed should be increased, so that a player can chase a player at equal speeds and still shoot, so people are punished for bad moves. which is how Halo used to play, and why it was credited, it was a thinking gamers game.
So to answer the Question, Midship, It was Better design, it Had a cool Aesthetic, a good and balanced weapon layout and set a standard for a Halo map design, that acts as a template for some of Halo’s best maps. Haven was a wannabe classic style that in my view failed on many levels. it tries to be somewhat of a successor to Citadel from Halo 3, and citadel was MUCH better.
