Yeah me too but I’m going to Gamestop. I believe I heard somewhere that the best times to go are at around 9-10:00 p.m to get a good spot in line.

Go to the stores that you’ve preordered from, and ask them what time would be best since they’re the ones holding the lunch party, not anyone on these forums.

10 o clock - 11 o clock . I suggest taling some form of entertainmentthere if they’re not holdind mini tournaments

i had the exact same question because i pre ordered halo 4 from best buy and im supposed to go at best buy to get it

I always get there at 11:55pm because I’ve already got my receipt and by the time I get in line, the line is moving pretty quickly. I go to GameStop.

Usually once you get there they will take your receipt and stamp it so that once midnight passes all they have to do is check it and give you your game.

There can be a line for that if you aren’t early, but after midnight the game handing out can go quickly. I recommend 10 if you’re a hardcore fan. If you don’t mind being in a decent spot in line, I’d say 11.

Every Midnight launch is slightly different. From my experience (I have been at every midnight launch from Halo 2 on) things usually go something like this:

9:00 Store Closes and line forms - Diehards will be there early with chairs.

10:00 Store opens again, and begins to ring up receipts. Everyone needs to go through this process (even those that have paid in full.) By 10:30 or so everyone is back in line again.

10:30-12:00 - Waiting and more waiting.

12:01 Doors open and line moves fast. You should be out the door with Halo 4 by 12:20.

Tips:

Best time to go seems to be about 10:30. Get your receipt printed out, then leave. Come back at 12:15. Wait 5 minutes, get game and leave. I persnally like to get there earlier to hang out with the crowd and perhaps get some H4 in before release.

As I stated, every store and launch is different. Make adjustments when needed. You will always have some people that walk up and need to finish paying off their copy. This slows the line down quite a bit. The experience I listed above is typical for a EBGAMES/GAMESTOP location. Best Buy might be very different.

Best of Luck! Enjoy it.

I’ll be arriving at GAME about ten minutes early with my friends, so I’ll just wait outside. Time flies when you’re having fun!

I’ve been to every midnight Halo launch starting with 2 and I always show up at around 11:20 just to make sure I can take care of any unforeseen complications that might arise. But I pretty much just change out my receipt and then get back in line and stand there. Once it hits midnight the line moves incredibly fast. So you could probably get away with going at about 11:50. I do like having a good spot in line though so I’ll probably go this time at about 11:30.

Pretty much what he said.

I get there early to chat with the other gamers, sometimes make friends with some who I later game with online. Usually I bring my wife and dog. She walks the dog around. The other gamers seem to like having a dog there. I like to be first in line so I can help organize the line(s).

I’ve been doing this for years now and have gotten to know some of the store’s other frequent customers like this. It’s usually fun times. We discuss the upcoming game, talk about previous ones, compare stats, etc.

So I suggest getting there around 9-9:30. If noone is there yet, then just sit in your vehicle until someone else shows up. Then meet/greet. You’ll get a lot more out of the experience of a midnight release this way, rathe than just going to pick the game up and leaving right away.

Ive been to a bit of midnight releases I’ve noticed recently at least at Gamestop they give you numbers on ur reciept and that will either be your specific number in line or a group number and theyll bring in like 10 people at a time so the sooner you get ther the better. I’ve never even been in a Best Buy so idk how many pre-orders they get there I’d probably show up at 9 I’m getting Borderlands 2 tonight and thats what time I’m leaving so I’ll probably be there at about 9:10. There doing a cardboard weapon competition it sounds corny but things like this really help pass the time.
The stores that make an event out of picking up the game are way better, obviously care about the customers, these are the stores you should give you’r support to. Last one I went to was Max Payne 3, I won the huge cardboard cutout for it, granted I had to wait about a month till they were done with it, but it was still a fun night.

I’m getting there at 8. Grab some Chili’s right near the Gamestop, and hangout till midnight.

I was the first person to grab Halo 3, and I have to say, it’s pretty darn sweet when you walk out of the store and over 100 people start going nuts. You should be the first one if you get there around 8-9.

It is fun when you walk out and theres still a ton of people in line, dont taunt them though the last thing you want is a pack of angry gamers. The only problem im going to have with Halo 4 is I have my license and a car now so Im not getting a ride from a friend so I cant tear through my LE and console on my way home.

It depends, are you just there for the game, or are you there to hang out with the community? Here the line starts picking up around 4 or 5, I have this thing on being first (I have a feeling Rukizzel is reading this) so I show up earlier than that. It’s great to chat with other Halo fans, swap stories, and any extra swag I may have that I don’t need any more I’ll do Halo trivia or whatever to pass out. I also bring plenty of drinks and stuff.

It’s not everyday I get to hang out with a ton of Halo fans, so I always ensure we have fun with it. It’s not crazy to get there early and mingle with the community and be first in line for your favorite game, it’s dedication to the game and to your peers.

Call the store on the 5th and ask when the line starts. At my Gamestop the lines always start at 10pm, people can get their receipts checked/pay off the rest of the game so come midnight they can just get the game and leave.

This will be my first midnight release for Halo (or for ANYTHING, for that matter… never even been to a midnight movie release, honestly). So I’m excited. I requested the entire week off, save for Monday of course. But I have that Tuesday - Sunday off from work, and will be Halo’ing my brains out and thumbs-off.

I think, at least in my opinion, it’s saying something that I’m this amped to partake in a midnight release for this Halo. I’ve been a huge Halo fan since Halo: CE, but this is the first time I felt the need to commit myself this much to a Halo release. And I don’t think I’m the only one…

Ill be up at the gamestop at around 7pm ish cause most of the time they let the early ones stay inside and i usually do a unboxing a hour before midnight.
