So this will be my first midnight release for any game and I was wondering how does it work? My friend said you go to the register first and get your receipt checked. I don’t want to look like I am cutting lol.
If you are going to gamestop they make you wait outside and usually their sales team goes out and ask if you have gotten a new receipt. If not they tell you to go inside to get a new one(makes the line go quicker). So when you get there make sure to ask a sales person what to do.Been to lots of midnight releases and thats how it usually works. Then you go back outside and wait for midnight and go thru the line like normal and get your copy.Go home, play and enjoy.
It really depends on where you’re buying it from, or even the location of the world you live in.
For me, we walk through the specified opened doors that will be the only ones working since the mall will be close, walk to the store and line up behind the shutters in a single line. If there’s like a super expensive edition you need to have pre-ordered there will be a second line next to it.
Lately they’ve been doing this thing where they have numbers you can grab in the store during the normal working hours before the midnight release and line up based on your number. That one didn’t matter to me though since I turned up as they were finishing up and didn’t have to wait in line the last two times.
I plan on going around 11:00 will they be done asking people for new receipts? and if they don’t ask do I just walk in?
BestBuy is so much better than GameStop. They let you wait inside the store and not out in the freezing cold. It snowed when I waited at GameStop for Skyrim.
Anyways, yes there will be a moving line for receipt checking and a static line for the people ready to get the game at midnight.
I would pre-order it on Best Buy but gamestop is closer = get home earlier lol.

If your buying the LE go to best buy gamestop has either sold out of LE or stopped taking orders for LE.

go exactly arrive at 11:57 p.m, ask for your new receipt, oh its already 12… ask for the game… go back home within being on that line!

They shouldn’t at that time, at least at the store I go to. Unless you show up at midnight, you can walk in, grab the new reciept and then get in line.
The last midnight release I went to I got their waked into the store, game stop, received my receipt and then walked outside to the back of the line. Get there about four hours early for a good spot to get it and go home and play it. The line may be a while of a wait but you slowly move up and turn in your receipt and get what your pre-ordered and then you can leave from there. But they also do little giveaways sometimes.
I think for such a big release there wont be any numbers, its more first come first serve. They will either call or text you informing you that there is a midnight release and to remind you that you have the game preordered. They will probably let you know that the store will reopen at 10 for you to come in and get the new receipt andthen you can either join the line now or come back later. Then you wait. Basically how the night usually goes at my local gamestop.
The Gamestop in my area said they would have snacks, refreshments, and a copy out for people to play before the normal closing time. I might stroll up there to see what’s going on. If they bring out some bottles and strippers, then it’ll be a real party. :=)
Yeah…for borderlands 2 I just went at 10, paid it off, went home to watch the rest of cloverfield, and at 11:40, I went to gamestop, waited until 12, and got my copy…so…yeah…
OP, my suggestion is that you get there early, and ask the guys at the store, they will have a plan laded out on how to do things, and they’d be more than happy to explain to new people.
