My friend and I are trying to complete Midnight on LASO from rally point Charlie, and we are have trouble with the tower that has all the knights. We are hoping that someone who has completed the mission on LASO solo would help us with at least that tower.
I didn’t beat it on LASO but I did it on legendary without dying by using this method.
Snipe with the light rifle behind the lightbridge, one on the lightbridge may attack or not but the rest are easy. There is plenty of light rifle ammo in a close crate. Snipe and they won’t attack back also use the autosentry to get the job done more quick. Beat every single one like that.
Here is Aura’s run, and here is Michael’s run. These are the only two I know of.
Basically, exploit the hell out of their grenade throwing animation. Bring a Hammer too and use that to knock a few off.

And this is why the rest of your post is tactically worthless.
Never use guns against the knight if they have shields on LASO. Try to get the Gravity Hammer to knock Knights off the ledges of the map or try to get the Incineration cannon. Otherwise, just use teamwork in such a way that every knight can be assassinated.
That’s how I did it.

Well I did a run with 3 people and we got down to just the Knight Officer but then he jumped up and did a shock wave that killed our teammate. I didn’t know there were shockwaves in this game.

Yeah, the bigger guys like to jump up through the air and punch you into the ground sometimes. If you have a shotgun or something you can take them out before they hit you.

We are working from Rally Point Charlie, I don’t believe we can get our hands on a gravity hammer.

The knight never punched the ground, he jumped up, floated, my friend died, then he gently landed back on his feet.

Guns don’t do hardly any damage to knights on LASO. And I already beat the campaign on legendary solo. So I don’t need a guide for that. Sorry.
x4 plasma pistol and grenades…

Like I said before, we are starting from Rally Point Charlie, so we can’t get those weapons. And it is just me and another person anyway.
I got a teammate to stand on the 1st platform on the ramp up to the top level to distract them, and then just assassinated them when they were busy throwing grenades at them. Found a good strategy was to wait just before the lightbridge and have my teammate hit the button to activate it, then sprint across and assassinate the knight on the left as he spawns. Then back off, wait for all the knights to start throwing grenades at teammate and then run back and assassinate them – I zigzagged in the order I got them here, going for ones on the left then on the right etc, that seemed to work well.

I wouldn’t say that. He has made at least 1 correct observation.
Indeed, one of the Knights does aggressively charge you, and you can exploit this by being in a certain position which will cause him to teleport.
Also, using the Light Rifle on the Lancers can cause them to their zig zag charge in place (especially if you have a good positioning), leaving them vulnerable for the Incineration Cannon.
OT: I tried doing it aggressively yesterday. Major success!
It’ll be slow if you activate the light bridge but if you frag jump up, there’s a lot of potential. The 2 Knights that spawn at the edge of the bridge are much more easier to kill when they’re spawning. Of course, it’s not spawn killing as much as it is a confusion tactic (even if you’re behind either of the 2 Knights when they spawn, they’ll know where you are so you have to move a bit and crouch to get the upper hand).
Edit: Rally point charlie huh? Get the Incineration Cannon, it weakens their shielding enough (direct hits) for a single clip of the Light Rifle to kill them (well placed headshots).
Also, try spawn killing the Battlewagon. I’ve tested this yesterday, 12 skulls on, and it almost always works. Headshot the Crawlers before going to the switch so you only have 1 Knight to deal with.
Im at the last tower ( the one you start at, with the light bridge to the didact) solo on LASO with just a light-rifle and a suppressor(not that they will help you much) by just as they go into the grenade throwing animation, run in behind them, back smash them( not assassinate as you will lose more shield then u will get) and run out and hide.
then repeat, its a frustrating long process especially if you die, but effective nonetheless,
you want to get the knights in a open space separate from the other knights, if they spawn a watcher , run away and shoot it with a light-rifle from a distance, same if they spawn a sentry
the final tower after cortana’s data terminal is destroyed is the hardest because there is very little cover to run back to and they have many have long ranged weapons
overall the gravity hammer is the best weapon to have as you can knock them off the edge and with every hit you get full shields back, so just go berserk
