Mid February update

Anyone know if this is happening next week? For the BTB fix we had about a week’s notice for the ETA pending certification.

Also, I know they said it will primarily be anticheat but is there the possibility of any other QoL patches (performance, netcode, etc.) Spartan animations are looking like Mr. Game & Watch in BTB.

I was just looking at the news on Halo Waypoint, and it seems like they try to have a cadence of a larger article every 7 days or so. Taking this into consideration, the targeted mid-February patch, and the fact that a lot of people will be paying attention to HCS this weekend, plus the smaller updates on Friday — I think a larger news update on where things are at is highly likely in the next two days.

Regardless, we desperately need a roadmap to have a better idea of when we can expect new content and what the plans are for the major issues with the game.

Hoping that’s what’ll happen this week, but maybe it’s wishful thinking.

Welp, called it on an article every 7 days or so. Hopefully we get more than this by Friday.

Yeah, right on time! Though I’d consider geofiltering to be low on the list of offenses it is better than nothing. I imagine the aimbot and wallhack is what first comes to mind for many players when discussing anticheat.

There’s so many issues they need to address with the game right now, most of all in my opinion being content. I’m really, really hoping the server fixes (while appreciated) aren’t considered to be the bigger mid Febuary update they were talking about a month ago.

They have an update every friday evening

More content is useless if the game itself is unplayable (desync/cheaters)

Except the game isn’t unplayable. There are a TON of issues that do impact the experience though.

Yeah, we’ll see on Friday night what they have to say! I always keep a close eye out Friday afternoon.

Well, in today’s post on the networking changes they called it the “february update” instead of the “mid february update”. We perhaps shouldn’t read too much into this but expecting the update to hit next week might lead to a disappointment.

As for contents: we know there’ll be bugfixes and some improvements to combat cheating. I don’t expect much more than that if I’m honest. Additional content would be highly welcome though.

Yeah, it is.
Desync literally effects the gameplay, as well as rampant cheaters.

I’ve already been disappointed by them multiple times, what’s one more?

Unyshek just clarified on Twitter that today’s update is not the mid February update, so that’s good

That doesn’t make it unplayable, though it does make it less enjoyable. It may be unplayable to you, but people are literally still playing the game, as evidenced by the HCS tournament this weekend, active playerbase (admitedly dwindling), and Youtubers / Twitch streamers.

Anything that effects the majority of the playerbase’s experience makes a game unplayable.

That’s like saying a gamebreaking bug doesn’t make the game unplayable, because other people are playing.

I guess we have very different definitions of unplayable. When I boot up the game and enter a match, am I playing it?

Yes.
The thing is, I won’t play a game if I’m not having fun (as will most people)
And desync and cheaters make this game EXTREMELY not fun.
Hence I don’t play, hence, it is unplayable

So then it is playable, just not playable to you?

It is unplayable to many people.
If you don’t experience cheaters and desync, that’s great, good for you. But unfortunately, most of the community experiences otherwise

I do experience those things, and often – but not every single game. There is definitely a portion of the community who experiences those things and still plays it (again, with dwindling numbers). I personally enjoy the core gameplay enough to consider it playable, but admittedly find myself playing the game less often.

I just hope they fix the Custom Games so we can connect to Daddy Gates’s Azure Servers correctly! :hand_with_index_finger_and_thumb_crossed:

Core gameplay is incredibly, possibly the best Halo MP I’ve ever played. But the surrounding features and bugs ruin it for me
