Two issues that go hand in hand.
Open Mic is the default setting for voice chat mode. Please set the default to be Push-to-talk. I don’t want to hear someone’s heavy breathing, or their argument with their significant other, or the clacking of their keyboards, or their dog barking in the background, or whatever -Yoink- music they listen to. Which brings us to the second issue, which is not being able to mute players in game. That needs to be a standard feature of any multiplayer game
Yes please. The game has a tooltip that says mute players by pausing and going to roster, but its not there so maybe it’s not ready yet.

Would love to have an easy fast way to mute player while I’m playing. like from the scoreboard. The fact that people for some reason decide to listen to music while on mic is so annoying. Why would anyone else wanna hear your music blocking out the sounds in the game?
Old way of muting players needs to be restored. Just played a match with some dude playing either a video or some Audible book in the background. We all asked him to mute his mic but of course, we all know how people are. He completely ignored our request and we could not do anything about it since mute was not available in the scoreboard. This needs to be restored quickly otherwise annoying kids and immature teens/adults are going to abuse the heck out of that.

i agree man, i kept holding tab trying to find any option to mute people and got nothing. i went into the game settings and muted team voice chat entirely because of it. should be what? tab right click to get mouse then move round the list and be able to mute/report inactive players ect?

This is on Xbox I am talking about.
You can temp disable voice chat in game. Just go to settings < audio < scroll down to voice chat = disable match chat
edit OR just make a party and switch between game chat and party chat shrug
