Microtransactions must go!

Out with the REQ system!
What happened to working for armors. Not getting lucky or buying them.
What happened to doing challenges for armor. Not getting lucky or buying them.
What happened to saving credits to buy a SPECIFIC armor. Not getting lucky or buying it.

Microtransactions Happened.

The Free DLC we got, that wasn’t dlc. That was content that should have been here at launch. So this Req. system shouldn’t be a better system than paid dlc. Because all we are doing is waiting for infection 7 months after release. We STILL are waiting for race! WHAT! Free DLC and paid microtransactions can’t get us race almost 9 months after release!?!? Cmon man!

We need to demand the classic system where we EARN our armors and not get lucky out of a pack!

Halo: this is your chance to innovate. It seems every game has microtransactions these days. Don’t be another AAA studio and ask is to pay to skip a grind. Be original and remove microtransactions!

Did someone ever knocked at your door forcing you to spend cash in-game? Micro transaction are here to stay, they just need to return to a credit system like Reach and 4 or even mix credit with actual Halo 5 system.

BTW, I don’t see what micro-transactions has anything to do with your topic. What you want is just the RNG system to go.

"What happened to working for armors."

Hasn’t been here since Halo 3 and maybe Halo 4

"What happened to doing challenges for armor"

Halo 3 and especially Halo 4 made you go almost out of your way for said armor, putting customization over the game itself. Yeah, let me just waste my time Splattering people for that Visor.

"What happened to saving credits to buy a SPECIFIC armor. Not getting lucky or buying it."

That’s basically Halo 5 without the RNG. Especially since in Halo Reach, all people did was farm Gruntopalcse and Custom Challenges for all the free credits. How is that any different than buying it with real money?

"The Free DLC we got, that wasn’t dlc."

Really? It was content, and I downloaded it. Sounds like DLC to me by definition.

"That was content that should have been here at launch."

Really? Firefight should have been here at launch? The Halo CE Pistol, Halo 2 BR, Halo 2 Beam Rifle, and the extra Forge campus should have been here at Day One?

"So this Req. system shouldn’t be a better system than paid dlc."

This Microtransaction system is getting 343i loads more money than paid DLC could ever do. Even now we’ve gotten more maps out of DLC than Halo 3 and Reach.

343i told us exactly what was going to be here at launch. Every map, every gametype, and the Beta told you just about every (Base) weapon. If you didn’t agree with 343i’s choices, then you wouldn’t be supporting them by buying the game at launch.

**“We need to demand the classic system where we EARN our armors and not get lucky out of a pack!”**Since when is buying everything with Halo Reach’s credits “earning” your armor?

Without the microtransactions we wouldn’t have:

  • Hannibal/temple vehicles
  • half the arena and Warzone maps
  • infection/grifball
  • 80% of the forge stuff (arguably forge entirely)
  • firefight
  • a significantly smaller HCS
  • armor/ skins/ visors (yes I know most are not amazing)
  • h2 br, HCE pistol, brute plasma rifle etc
  • wasp, grunt goblin, wheelman armor mod.
I am not defending it but I am saying it does help provide what I already listed to be part of the game.
By no means do I think buying armor is related to the REQ RNG system or microtransactions. The game can easily have them both.

I don’t see the problem with halo 5’s microtransactions but I do think the req system is flawed. Here’s my ideas for it:

  1. Have the RNG portion stay with warzone. The people who don’t play warzone are forced to unlock things for warzone every time they open a pack. If the req packs are exclusive to warzone, then the only arena players wouldn’t have to worry about getting loadout weapons, power ups, power weapons, and vehicles.

  2. Make “credits” req points. This would allow people to spend the req points on cosmetics OR req packs. They’d have to choose which one they want to buy. To make it so that you couldn’t just save up and buy the best armor, you’d have to rank up so you could buy the armor.

  3. Make microtransactions give you rp. Instead of buying a silver pack or a gold pack, you’d buy 5,000 rp or 10,000 rp.

  4. Make some cosmetics attainable through commendations/achievements. Do I really need to explain more?

-so remix warthogs no thanks

  • you mean the remixes of maps that suck and they completely shafted BTB
  • infection/grifball should not have be paid for by dlc they should have been at launch
  • forge I agree with becuase that was hug over haul
  • WZFF is not firefight
  • HCS is pretty lame anyways
  • oh you mewan all the crappy armro with white stripes and a teeny bit more blue visor. Quantity does not equal quality and customization suffered heavily because of this.
  • weapons that are nice but they really didn’t be made with micro-transactions
    -same with above

Micro transactions are just horrible and there quality of said content has reflected on how poor everything is. Remixes and forge maps should not count as DLC. 343 butchered the game just so they could make quick buck while giving us extremely poor maps and armor.

OMG! So many straw man arguments. Funny how you don’t mention INFECTION or let’s say koth, race, oddball, grid ball, fiesta Gamemodes, or any modes that should have been here at launch. You support RNG and Microtransactions incentives? Seriously you know what I mean, either you support it or you straight up are TRYING to argue with somebody. Firefight and a FEW old weapons are only actual dlc things at launch. Seriously idk what your problem is. You seem blind to the reality that is the microtransactions driven leveling up system and gearing system(whatever you wanna call it, I’m sure I’ll get thrown into the fire for that one also).

“The Free DLC we got, that wasn’t dlc.”

When you said that. Your entire argument vanished.

I actually recently thought of a system similar to this. Your system + a challenge to obtain another req pack or credit pack. More way and challenges to go after.

I mean he’s not wrong DLC is content you download. I don’t understand this huge bandwagon to hate 343i, don’t like them, then go play Destiny instead, so you can go complain about Bungie.

Yep. That’s how he is. I made a REALLY detailed post about the things wrong with Halo today and my man Vegeto came in to prove me wrong. He used his infamous straw man arguments, and when I gave a response, he just disappeared. People with his kind of attitude are the reasons why Halo is just not the way it used to be, but of course he and the people like him fail to understand. Heres my thread if you want to see his straw man arguments. https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/forums/6e35355aecdf4fd0acdaee3cc4156fd4/topics/halo-5-one-step-forward-a-giant-leap-back/f267d0b5-1885-4a8e-9eb6-9b9773e2d467/posts
Please read my counterargument too.

Oh I’m sorry. Next time I’ll just praise 343 in every aspect so things I don’t like will never be fixed. No, that’s not how it works. I love halo, I want halo to improve. How do I do that? I voice my opinion on waypoint hoping and praying it makes a difference. People like you need to realize that I’m doing this to help halo not destroy it. And that guy earlier didn’t need to be a sassy little girl, he knew what I meant!

Weird, I don’t remember saying everything was perfect at launch. I must have my head on backwards or something. Mind pointing to where I said that? Of course we were missing things. Of course we are missing things.

But you said “The Free DLC we got, that wasn’t dlc. That was content that should have been here at launch.”. The stuff I pointed out was DLC, not at launch, and was never expected to be in the game period, let alone at launch.

**“Seriously idk what your problem is. You seem blind to the reality that is the microtransactions driven leveling up system and gearing system”**I love how you completely ignored the first half of my comment.

Halo 3 and Halo 4 had very specific objectives to get armor. Someone in another thread pointed out one such objective to get a Triple Kill with a Sword on FFA. I’d have to go out of my way in a game to make that happen due to how specific it is.

Halo Reach had the credit system, all you have to do is get enough money (and reach the most-likely low rank) to buy it once and I’m done for the rest of the game. There’s never a need to unlock anything.

And as I said before, I don’t have to try very hard either, because there are two very popular ways to farm them that Bungie couldn’t stop. “Oh but you have to earn your armor!” Don’t worry, Farming the Target Locator on the Second mission earns me all the cool stuff, and faster than most other people! "Oh but you have to rank up to unlock it!" Well it’s a good thing the credits are directly tied to rank in this game! Two birds with one stone!

So how is that any different from putting a couple bucks towards the armor, assuming it stops becoming RNG?

**“When you said that. Your entire argument vanished.”**Really? How so?

Typical response from people on these forums… Instead of maybe, maybe, listening to his points, and understanding why he thinks they are wrong.
“Go play Destiny” If he was playing Halo, its because he was playing Halo. If he wanted to play Destiny, he wouldn’t be playing Halo. Don’t think of him as a hater, but rather a fellow fan who has a complaint, but not to simply complain, but rather help the game become better. If only all 343-lovers would understand this.

I really wish I remember this thread, but it must have been one of those threads I just posted and left and forgot to come back.

Anyway, from your thread, the Halo 4 part we pretty much agreed on. It was bad, everyone knew it was bad. The population literally vanished within the first month. No arguments there. If anything, your #1 was just me misunderstanding you because it sounded like you tried to defend Halo 4.

Your #2 wasn’t me misunderstanding you. If you don’t like the game and how 343i was (and is) taking the series, stop playing the game. Stop supporting the game. Vote with your wallet. This holds true even to this day. Let the numbers speak out.

#3 came to a conclusion

#4 wasn’t even an argument.

#5, The voting system has it’s positives and negatives. It allowed people to play different maps, but it allowed people to play those same different maps, with the most popular ones always winning.

I never argued about the REQ system, if it can be changed to something better (and it can), then I’m all for it.

Then you tried to bring AngryJoe’s review into it and it had more mistakes than MCC’s launch state.

Still waiting for Action Sack!

I quite like the RNG of opening packs, it’s more exciting than previous Halos in that respect.

I also think there should be plenty of fixed ways of getting certain armors though like achievements and commendations.

A mix of both systems would be nice.

Watch this video called response to Luke the Notable. Its by a great YouTuber named Favyn and is literally talking about that exact topic. You don’t have to watch the full thing, but probably the first 10 minutes.

Actually, I’d rather people stuck with the game and posted constructive criticism so that 343i can work on improving future titles rather than just not playing or supporting the franchise anymore.

I always find “don’t play it if you don’t like it” a really weak argument to use against people voicing negative opinions about the game.

OK, I’ll check it out, thanks.

Why do you think that all the free DLC stuff would have been in at launch without the REQ system?

Was the campaign super rushed because of the REQ system too?
