Microtransactions hurt every game they touch

Please do not add MTX to MCC. It is not and never will be the right solution, it will only cause more issues.

Microtransactions always result in lower quality products, for exhibit A I present: Halo Infinite, SW Battlefront 2 EA, and literally any Fifa game in the last 6 or so years.

The horrible monetization of Halo Infinite is why I stopped playing it.

Microtransactions are a -Yoink!- plague on modern gaming.

There’s also no reason to believe it’ll simply stop here.
At every turn, 343 has chosen the path that favors short-term monetary gains over a better quality game.

heck, thats the story of MCC itself

they could have focused on delivering a solid H2A experience, and instead went with a collection that caused more issues than benefits, and chose to abandon it and try to milk the fans with Halo 5 till they needed a shot of good will.
they could have focused on reworking Halo Online into a merged Halo 3 and ODST on PC with all the new features brought to the table for a solid 20 year anniversary title, and instead chose the AtGames Halo Collection again.
they could have planned out PC ports and rereleases for the next 10 years, leaving infinite to benefit from the Xbox Platform with no limitations affecting PC players, and instead went with an all at once where nobody is happy as no single game gets the attention it rightfully deserves.

343 has never made a good choice when the choice is painfully right in front of them

Enough is enough, whales have ruined the gaming landscape of every franchise I’ve ever cared about with their egregious spending and enabling of bad corporate practices. The “its their money, they can do what they want with it” exuse is hurting the industry. We should have put our foots down sooner.

Ignore it, don’t buy it, and just play the game. How does this addition change the game?

Agreed, I do not support mtx in MCC

Why are you everywhere defending a million dollar company owned by a billion dollar company? If you say those things you are just making it worse for everyone else, and you do not understand the gaming industry or the market or the fricking world in general.

Congratulations! You have no clue what you’re talking about!

Let me lay this out for you in terms you’ll understand:

MCC is a compilation of CLASSIC Halo games, there were no microtransactions in those games, therefore they shouldn’t even consider MTX in MCC, especially considering MCC is almost 10 years old.

Reason #2 is: If they are allowed to get away with this who’s to say where they paywalling stops? You really willing to risk colors getting paywalled in MCC? Because over time that’s EXACTLY where this stupid defense leads.

Glad you asked.

This change exploits the very players they claim to be helping by profiting off the problem they created.

Now, whether or not they intentionally created is issue this is up for debate. Nonetheless, it’s a terrible move.

They already made their money with the collection itself, any futher monetization is not required.

Microtransactions have ruined COUNTLESS games. They should not and should never be included in anything.

Even the microtransactions in Halo Infinite are pushing it too far. $60 campaign, $10 battlepasses. The store in Halo Infinite has no right to exist.

You’ve already gotten a number of responses, but I thought I’d add my own 2 cents. There are three issues with them adding MTX to MCC:

  1. The principle. People hate MTX, and don’t want to see classic, well-loved games get whored out for a quick buck
  2. Slippery slope. 343 goes back on promises all the time. Why should they keep their word and only monetize spartan points; maybe in the future they’ll monetize more stuff. You can’t only stand up when big power players start messing up your turf, you have to stand up right from the start before things get out of hand.
  3. MTX don’t have a good track record. Every game that has them is worse because of it.

The only possible price that I could see as being even remotely reasonable is if $5 is worth 100 “Spartan Points.” That would be enough for an entire “Season” of content. There’s 8 seasons and the base price is around $40. So $40 (base) + $40 (8 Seasons * $5 each) = $80, which would be the price of a premium game that came with DLC content with as much value as a Season pass. At the very least, it would be a much better value than the garbage that Halo Infinite is pushing out.

I would like to reiterate, I absolutely, positively do NOT want ANY microtransactions into MCC in any capacity whatsoever. This is a backup plan in case our objections fall on deaf ears, and I worry that they will.

What game???

We are literally still in beta mode with 75% of the game missing and it’s going on a year.
