Imagine purchase a Microsoft system, imagine purchase a retail versión of the MCC + REACH and ODST DLCs, imagine pay gold or ultimate to play online, and now imagine to pay again in MTX for comestic things. I don`t know about you, but i feel if i was a cow, i would be less milked.
Time ago i gifted my little brother a copy of the MCC for Steam, to play with him and to him to enjoy all the games. And meanwhile i have to pay to play online, he have it for free just for buy a copy of the game, simple as that.
Why?
And why i have to pay again for Spartan Points to unlock things in an already paid MP?
As a Fan of the franchise and the Xbox consoles, i just feel sad, exploited, ill only see this mtx with good eyes if thats means they get rid of the paywall to play online modes.
Nope, I will play this game till it ends. Never paying anything since it launched. But I do play often. For those that don’t, maybe this is a way to catch up?
While I am against mtx in MCC I don’t see how it hurts the player base. You can still earn Spartan points for free… The mtx is a short cut for players who don’t want to put in the time to earn Spartan points for cosmetics.
What will effect and probably hurt the player base is if they put mtx for Spartan points in the game odds are they will put cosmetics that are buy only and not available for points.
Because over time as infnite dies and MCC doesn’t, 343 will continue adding more and more microtransactions to MCC until they paywall colors, you want that?
We need to be a bit realistic. Infinite is still up on the Xbox most played list. Usually in about the 14-16 spot. MCC doesn’t even make the top 50 any more usually. Sometimes on weekends in might be in the mid 40s. MCC won’t over take Infinite in terms of population. MCC is already the superior game and has the features players want in infinite but yet the majority still won’t play MCC instead of Infinite.
More time pass and more im envisaging this option myself
Halo Wars 2 multiplayer is broken, H5 is dead, HI is a mess, the legacy servers are down, and MCC is on its way to be filled with a bunch of microtransactions. There is just no alternative left.
if 343 wants to give us more points then just have the challenges award us more points like 3 or 4 or something like that have daily challenges and allow us to gain points when ranking up again even after we hit that cap
Except there are ways to let them catchup without swinging the huge moneydong onto the table. It’s called just giving us more Season Point Challenges to complete.
That’s not hard to do. But 343’s instant reaction would be OOGA BOOGA MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY IN A 20 YEAR OLD GAME MONEYYYYYYYY OOOO OOO AAA AAA AAA
Like cmon, they didn’t even give us a proper H2A MP. It’s just H4 flipped into H2A along with all the horrible (generating lighting please wait…) and the same really weird physics and effects from H4.
They can’t even have a proper CE:A MP. They didn’t even remaster H3. And they wanna sell it like it’s a brand new product worth MTX? Really?
There’s still Murder Miners and the soon to be released Murder Miners X. It may not be Halo, but it’s the closest thing we’ve got. MMX is even going to have assassinations.
Unfortunately, after MCC’s update. I foresee a shop opening selling goods with SP (Spartan Points). Some may say that this is okay as you can still grind for points.
However, this isn’t always the case. Eventually, I can only imagine that the price for goods will far out weight for what is practical to grind. Leaving buying more SP through Micro-transactions the only alternative….
This is what I believe 343 means by exploration.
As a console owner I believe this will impact the amount of time I play games that use this type of business model and after experiencing what we have done with Infinite. I will think more carefully with the games I choose to buy and play in the future.
Don’t drink the corpo kool-aid. The actual solution to this, is to increase ways to gain points and the number of points gained. Double all the challenges, make ranking up mean something, anything that can be done from a player-first mentality.
Actions like this one, where they implement microtransactions with a pathetic excuse of “Well, we’re just trying to make it easier” is not only a bold-faced lie, but an indication that management is not allowing the developers to discuss and dissect what the actual issues are.
It’s much easier to create a problem, and then sell the solution to it. This isn’t a way for people to “catch-up.” It’s a way for 343 to make money from an old game by taking advantage of a bunch of fools with more money than sense.
I like the idea of buying the points, you can unlock them or pay for them, but everything can be earned if thats what you want to do, of pay if you dont.
MCC has so much to unlock that its difficult to unlock it all quickly, so you can pay for a speedup, alright in my book.
After the agressive pay walls, fomo and shop issues in halo infinite, yet again I feel MCC has done it right.
