I don’t expect this to get much attention seeing how posts get buried real quick, but I’ve been reading a few posts and even myself I haven’t left much of things on a positive note. I can’t when it comes to companies taking advantage of their player base. Saying one thing but their actions shows another.
Miss leading the player base seems to be the main focus in gaming these days to make a profit, and it is why the fluff twab’s are created, it’s to keep your interest before the product is released whether it’s a bata or the actual game to where you see what has actually taken place that most ignore the damage it has done to a game. Personally, I’m tired of companies shoving shops in our face that they make it a focal point when games should be created for the player base as well as the compnay, not just for the company.
How many of you guys/ladies know Bungie made the franchise $5billion without a shop? I can guess why and guarantees it wasn’t all about making a profit as games are being created today.
Yes, we all get it “companies need to make money for their product”. I have no issue with any company doing this at all. What I have a problem with is them using the shop as “our content”. meaning, less quality type of content that keeps the players engaged in that content, but more cosmetics to sell that IMO all items should have the option to either be earnable in-game as by purchase.
The shops in gaming these days are dictating what direction leveling/ranking systems are created. I know most of you know this, or at least I hope so. If you guys really want to blame anyone for the issues some of you have posted already, put the blame where it actually belongs (Microsft) and the naive players of gaming these days that made Activision Blizzard $1.2 billion in 2021.
Now I’m not saying 343 is innocent but it’s companies like Microsoft, Activision, etc… that are pushing this more so than the compies creating a game. Before the bata hearing how 2 directors walk off this project, that to me was a huge red flag. The sad thing is, I don’t expect much to change and it makes me wonder how much are we actually getting with this Campagne vs selling cosmetics.
