343: “We created a problem and you can pay for the solution. Aren’t we generous?”
They are like EA but instead of selling content they sell patches
39 people including myself all said no. Hopefully 343 listens
Against. No contest.
Halo 5’s loot boxes were bad enough even though you had the ability to earn enough in-game credits to buy them for free via gameplay, but Infinite is where I personally draw the line since you literally had no other options at all.
343i is now an EA of their own accord with their anti-consumer practices. Made worse since they are a Microsoft creation, and MS is all about money. Just look what happened to Rareware and more recently with the purchase of Activision Blizzard.

“Just a supreme lack of caring; because money!” ~ Josh Scorcher - The Fiery Joker.
The poll was a given, but the problem is most of the players base doesn’t care and a good portion of the player base will buy from the shop.
All you have to do is look at all the posts created since Infinite released on how many player just from the community support the shop. Now imagine how many never use the forum or any site to get info that just spend their money with no concerns about the state of the game that is literally in a poor state as of right now?
Keep in mind 343 tried this with MCC in 2019 and it only took a week of community backlash to get them to not do it. If we keep holding their rears to the fire and calling them out, odds are we can get history to repeat itself for the better.
I understand what some are trying to do, but seeing how they have handled infinite showing our opinion didn’t really matter. I won’t be surprised if they ignore the community as they have with the shop in infinite.
As @TheShadow_CA mentioned I’m not completely sure if voicing our concern will work this time.
There is not a lot of Halo fans left comparatively to the amount we used to have back in 2019 (especially with the hype around the MCC updates at that time). Also they seem to already have done renders and design concepts for the armors which mean they already have spend a certain amount of resources to implement the MTX, chances are the MCC community is not large enough or important for them to back off from the idea
That’s my point, it’s not about how large the community is, but rather how small it is. Think about it, only maybe 1% of the 1% would actually spend money on MTX in MCC, meaning that 343 would have wasted all that time and money implementing them for nothing.
The MCC community has plenty of people telling 343 not to do this, and I encourage people to keep telling 343 NOT to do this.
The design are most likely from the planned content for seasons 9 and 10. They have nothing to do with the micro transactions.
I guess I’d have no problem with it if they continued doing BIG seasonal updates.
You know, that would be hilarious if Halo Infinite fracture armors turned out to be recycled armors from the MCC season 9 and 10 we never got
Honestly 343 SHOULD continue updating MCC as it’s the only thing generating good will for them, clearly not right now due to their very wrong idea of adding MTX to an 8 year old game.
It not needed and not wanted. 343i don’t go through with it. Leave micro transaction out of MCC.
100% against. The entire reason people would want/need to buy SP is because of the artificial throttling of points you can get. Weekly limits from challenges, rank SP ending once you rank up to a certain point. Stuff like this has created a slow down on the acquisition of points. All they need to do is just remove the bottlenecks they’ve made and open it up so you can get a lot of points fast. Reward you for completing any multiplayer game with 1 SP, keep the challenges, remove the cap on receiving points from rank ups, reward an extra point if you win a multiplayer match, and more stuff like that.
There is no reason to make SP purchasable other than to be greedy and try and make more money off of this 8 YEAR OLD GAME! This is ridiculous. If they do this it’s just opening the door for more BS like this down the road. And once a door like this is opened it’s almost impossible to close and I’m pretty sure none of us want that door opened at all.
Yes, if they really wanted to make it easier for new players to get SP easier they could just buff the challenges and add daily rewards. Adding purchasable is just an excuse to milk as much as possible the remaining fans while they still can
I’m against MTXs in general preferring when Halo games were a complete product with progression and rewards systems unmolested by monetization where we purchased expansion packs to support the game’s expanded content, but I’m militantly against them in something like the MCC where they never existed in the first place. It’s blatantly apparent that 343 is trying to ram rod them into the game to make up for Infinite’s financial performance but trying to pass off greed as some sort of benefit to the player.
I 100% agree with this statement in every way possible.
The thought of 343 saying it’s to help new players catch up is hilarious since a simple fix would be like other people have said just remove the 100 tier reward cap for season points and maybe increase payout of some challenges and viola no problem or add more challenges for custom games, I hope they don’t try to make a manufactured “problem” into a paying gateway for MCC which is definitely a slippery slope if we’re looking at how infinite is doing
Edit:
Also not to mention it takes away from the people who actually grinded through the seasons reaching that last tier which adds a sort of genuine feeling to some armor pieces or limited time challenges for weapon skins, vehicle skins etc
