Microtransaction in Halo Wars 2? Hope you kidding

Hey everyone!

I hope, I really really hope that we don`t get a new kind of microtransaction for Halo Wars 2 now - maybe it will be a new kind of Pay2Win…

What do yu think about that?

If there will be Microtransaction in Halo Wars 2 I have to say “Yeah, thanks for nothing” me leaving a planet from Microsoft and 343 when the covenant attack that planet

I hate microtransactions passionately. I feel they cheapen “free updates” and allow gaming companies to leave out product on launch, justifying it by saying it’ll be in a “free update” later on.

However, I think we’re going to see them in every major release from here on forward, that has a multiplayer. It’s really going to irritate me if the game has microtransactions and a season pass, but there’s only one thing I can do as a gamer - which is vote with my wallet, and choose not to partake in microtransactions.

Unfortunately, it’s like voting in real life, in that even if I abstain personally, there are enough people who do not think like me to make my decision un-impactful to the bottom line. Of course, that’s politics, so that’s all I’ll say on the matter.

Thats the right decission - don`t take part in microtransaction - a big step backwards that Microsoft and 343 out that into Halo Wars 2 - if they add it… But I still hope that that is just a bad nightmare

Well if it truly has no negative impact on the overall game (unlike halo 5 where it takes away the incentive to play) then I’d be okay with micro transactions. Sure its greedy but that’s not gonna stop me from enjoying the rest of the game, and IF blitz is pay 2 win then I’ll simply stay away from that game mode.

But it would be still stupid

It would be if Blitz dies and it’s the only mode with P2W then it’ll burn the company and make them less likely to include in the future.

It has, in theory, no negative impact on the game as whole. With Micro trans being restricted to that one game mode. If it did affect anything else i’d have an issue. Don’t like it don’t play it. simple and easy. it’s not like H5 where the REQ system is also responsible for unlocking items, etc, in which you are forced to be involved in it.

But when you look to the new Mode “Blitz” where you have Legendary cards - what would you do, when you want to get all the cards with normal playing while you fight against me and I spend about 200€ for legendary cards - that would be really bad

Oh my god… Halo 5 was ruined by this. Gears of War 5 was ruined by this. GTA V was mixed about this. Destiny was also mixed about this.

I’m getting sick of this crap because they are not microtransaction skin packs etc. like COD Ghosts/Gears 3, they are turning in-game unlocks into pay-walls that entice the gullible: “Oh having a hard time grinding for these? Here, underneath this 5000 point option you can buy this pack for $9.99”.

Everyone is following this trend now. I just want to unlock stuff naturally whilst playing the game because that is more enticing. This is why these games are so boring now… Grind for RNG…

EDIT: AND companies use this as an excuse to make ‘free’ cheap/dodgy ‘updates’…

Ever played Clash Royal or Hearthstone? You’d realise how stupid that comment is. Legendary cards are also restricted by time which really like. Anyways go play clash royal or hearthstone, in which both i know people who have wasted large amounts of money. Yeah it gives you a head start but in the mid and higher stages it makes little to no difference. And again, if you don’t like the concept don’t play it. i myself am personally excited for this due to the fact that i’ve paled a lot of Clash and Hearthstone.

It’s better explain it properly i guess. Now the game works by you having 5 available cards in your hand to play. 5 or 4, i forget. Anyways and you also have a deck of 8 or 10 cards. You unlock the cards by opening packs which you can get through the campaign, multiplayer and commendations. All cards are permanent unlocks, where duplicates go to levelling up the cards. with each level of a card they require more duplicates. From you can see that paying money will give you head start but shortly after it won’t work anymore, unless you pay $1000’s which no one ever does. The game’s very simple. You have 5 cards in your hand that are randomly generated from your deck. You have energy points which are deducted every time you spawn a card. Now legendary, or very cards are things such as a scarab and the UNSC condor are restricted not only by very high energy costs but also time and are very slow units. Also the scarab is a banished only unit where as the condor is a UNSC specific units. This restricts how many rare cards you can have on your deck. On top of that say you do max your deck with the very rare of cards well that means you need high amount of energy points just to spawn a single unit where the enemy can spawn in few dozens. And you are playing a game mode similar to stronghodls so if you have only one unit it won’t help. And you need to acquire energy using your unit as well so again you’d be at a disadvantage. Games such as these rely heavily upon having a balanced deck of not only very strong units but weak common units as well. People even go for just weak units, mob units so they can spam large amounts. In this way the game is balanced. And the RNG while playing the game keeps a balance. But again if you don’t like the concept than don’t play it.

Micro transactions can be a bother to deal with, but at least they give us the option to unlock cards by playing the game normally. If you have such a problem with them, you can elect to not play blitz (which is really only one part of HW2). The unlocks are also permanent as opposed to the various single time use cards in Warzone.

Believe me I wouldnt play Blitz - dont forget that stupid ranking system…

I already see it:

2 Onyx against 2 silver players…

You can all complain as much as you want but as soon as people keep paying for it, then companies will continue to apply it…easy cash cow.

What is the obsession in gaming about cards? It seems like every game has to have some sort of micro transaction, card, or random number generator

I have been asking that myself. Every FPS in the past 2 or 3 years has had this redundant and stupid card based system that gives you power ups that you have to unlock. So much about fair and balanced game-play. 'Oh, but it is only in one game mode." Sorry, it is still crap and it is just hook and bait for new players to spend real money on it. Just give us all those unlocks from day one. Or what is next? We have to unlock your favorite color from the color spectrum just to be able to apply it to your character or army. So stupid.

It’s because people are stupid enough to buy them.

If you are skilled I doubt it will effect you that much, and when it does it is because the player on the other side got better cards than you faster, if it wasn’t because they purchased them, it was because they have more time to play than you, so they unlock more, or maybe they just win more than you, so they unlock more. Either way you were going to lose to people that had some sort of advantage, whether it is time, talent, and shoot why not add in more financially fit than you. It is the way things work now. If you don’t have all the time, you better have the talent, if you don’t have that well boom now you can have the money to make up for those 2… It is just the third part in an equation that is already in place.

Given the new information about the whole ordeal, I feel like I can actually play Blitz, not going to pay for a single card though.

-Earn card packs, or points to unlock cards, for playing any mode in the game, unlocking achievements and daily and weekly challenges, or challenges at least.

-Blitz has a “survival mode”, PvE.

-Cards are not burn cards and can be used indefinately.

card system gets added to games, because people are stupid enough to pay money for MT. i was thinking about buying halo wars 2, but when i heard it has MTs in it, i decided not to (bought h5 used too).
imo card system make games more bring, because it’s just becoming a grind fest…
but publishers make a lot of money with it (again, because of stupid people paying), so the MTs will stay.

and don’t say anything like “free DLC”, or “nobody gets locked out”, because you are getting locked out of something with MTs (because they want to sell them and locking stuff behind a paywall with an alternative which takes forever is locking out people who don’t pay). in h5s case you are locked out of a huge part of customization and in warzone you’re locked out of weapon variants (weapon variants… did i just hear CoD?)

in HW2 it looks like it’s being similar to warzone… MTs in AAA titels need to go, but again… people are just to stupid and keep buying MTs

All I have to say is, are you really that surprised? I mean name one AAA multiplayer game that has released this year without Microtransactions of some sort. (Don’t actually, I’m just trying to get a point across here). Microtransactions are taking over, and unless you can find a way to get more money they are sadly not going away.
