Microsoft using another company?

The newest rumor is another company is going to develop a Battle Royal for the Halo brand that is under Microsoft and it isn’t 343i. Do you guys feel like the development of that title will be ran smoother if not ran by 343i? Also, me personally I wouldn’t mind seeing new developers in the game helping expanding the Halo series. Activision has multiple companies for the same title. Microsoft can do the same thing.

I’m gonna sound like the grouchy old man in this post, but here goes…

If people want Battle Royale, they can pick from a half dozen AAA games instead of Halo. Can we please just have one major title that doesn’t follow that particular trend? I’d really rather we just keep Halo to the arena shooter style it has been known for for nearly 20 years. I know I sound intransigent, but clearly chasing trends hasn’t worked out well for Halo in the past, so perhaps not following yet another trend would be the wiser decision for 343 to make.

Battle royale in Halo would simply NOT work at all. Also, nostalgia-based directions are too trendy now. Just so many reboots and remasters everywhere! Has the industry no originality anymore?

Well to be fair, if it’s another company entirely, and it’s its own project secluded from the mainline gang, then it’s really not part of the mainline series. Tbh I could care less as I don’t play battle royale games or halo multiplayer anymore (and since you mentioned arena style play, I’ll say halo going away from that is why I’ve stopped playing Halo multiplayer, ever since HR I’ve lost interest over time). This would be more of a spin off thing and that’s good, it means anyone that wants to try it can and those who don’t then cool, it’ll be like halo wars essentially.

I will definitely agree following trends hasn’t benefit the mainline series however :+1:

Why wouldn’t battle royale work in Halo? I think it would work just fine.

Do I want it or think it’s necessary? Absolutely not - leave the CoD versions, Apex, Fortnite, and PUBG out there to control the market. But it could still very easily work.

If they were making a BR, might be smart to have another studio do it now that I think about it. These other BR’s out there have entire studios just working on said BR’s. It’s not just a small mode that they can throw in. Might be way too big of an undertaking to make the arena AND a BR. Question is what studio could do it successfully? Maybe they could even make a separate team within 343i specifically for BR.

Alright, I don’t want to start a war here but I’m gonna say it…

THE ONLY BR I WANT IN INFINITE IS THE BATTLE RIFLE

Now here’s why,
Halo was never suited for a Battle Royale, the series is known for its arena style mp, dragging BR into it is going to wipe that name and nobodys going to see Halo as the arena style game to play, it will fall subject to the widely expanding BR titles, and not everybody wants another BR. Some games should stay the same, especially those with a name 19 years in the making.
