Microsoft said Crimson would be free, now tri

If I stand correct, the series of events is as follows:

  1. Crimson is 800 points.
  2. Glitch on Dec. 10 causing it to go free.
  3. Microsoft first say that it’s “on us”, meaning that people who download it keep it for free. (It was on a twitter post, I don’t have the link right now).
  4. BS Angel (symbolic name) then says that it’s a trial, even though no one knew it was a trial.

I agree with the majority, solely because Microsoft -Yoinked!- up royally, then Microsoft lied about it by first saying that it’s for keeps, then telling us it’s a trial.

THAT’s why I’m pissed. Because they ALWAYS go back on their word every single -Yoinking!- time.

If you expected them to let you keep the map pack for free because you exploited a glitch, regardless of what 1 support person outside of the loop said. You are in for a world of shock.

I dont know why they cant just say that they screwed up, can they seriously not man up to it? So in the end people got the maps free for 2 weeks, great.

What difference does it make? There was a glitch and Microsoft admitted that there were technical difficulties and are telling people who got the maps for free that it’s a trial. This makes it fair for the people who paid because they never promised anyone the map pack would be free.

What gives?

> If you expected them to let you keep the map pack for free because you exploited a glitch, regardless of what 1 support person outside of the loop said. You are in for a world of shock.

You missed the point. The point is that Microsoft lied once again (surprise surprise) and went back on their word, like always.

Piss off you shouldn’t have the map pack anyways quit -Yoinking!-

It wasnt a glitch exploit. It was a mistake someone made and, at first, readily admitted to…then changed their story afterward.

You people will -Yoink- about anything.

Jesus

If I go to Tim hortons, and the cashier says that we can have unlimited timbits for free, and then a few minutes later the manager says we can’t, does this mean we should have free timbits?

And Goobot, they’re getting theirs taken away basically, don’t tell me you’re one of them.

Its a large corporation. Is this the first time any of you have delt with large corporations in the real world? This happens all the time and the world has not ended yet.

The problem is, the person who said to “have it on us” was just some dweeb member of Xbox Support on Twitter, no doubt they had no authorisation to say “have this on us”

When the dust settled, and considering the sheer numbers who no doubt downloaded it for free that Monday night, the easiest option was to rescind the license for every “free” download by non Pass owners and they chose to do this by making it a one week trial and 343i via BS Angel (still makes me chuckle the irony of her online name) to make up the cover story that it was a planned one week trial as a reward and thank you to to the limited regions that managed to pull this off

So, it was initially a pricing error that caused the error, that error was then corrected and we have had another big laugh at the expense of 343i and MS

A few things to consider: No one ever confirmed it was a glitch, that was an assumption made by the community. The MS support twitter account isn’t the head of Microsoft, or even the one in charge of Xbox Live technical issues, it’s a freaking twitter account. Just because it wasn’t announced as a trial doesn’t mean it wasn’t intended to be one.

You don’t work for MS, you don’t know what actually happened, and you’re throwing accusations around based on a perception of incomplete information.

I said they should man up and say it was an error, not act like it was planned.

> Then why do they even have the twitter in the first place? Infact, let us wait upon the word of the CEO, for the words of everyone else clearly are invalid and will hold no weight.

> If it was meant to be a trial, it would probably be a seperate download, no? Look at every other trial for DLC, (Assassin’s Creed does this) it clearly states TRIAL.

Support is for problems such as broken xboxes, inability to connect to xbox live, hacked accounts etc, not XBL promotions.

A guy who answers questions about you not being able to connect to XBL isn’t in charge of promotions such as this one, and wouldn’t have the knowledge to answer it correctly. Would you go to a janitor to ask about a Fortune 500 company’s long term business plan? Of course not.

How did he exploit it? It takes work to exploit a glitch. All he did was “press A”

> If you expected them to let you keep the map pack for free because you exploited a glitch, regardless of what 1 support person outside of the loop said. You are in for a world of shock.

Exploiting?? How so? We didn’t set the price and we didn’t come out and say it was on us.

Plus these maps are -Yoink- anyway. I’m not spending my money on them.
