Microsoft Just Bought Activision

Eaqual footing? :rofl::rofl::rofl:
No not quite.

Microsoft will not purchase Sony, the more likely scenario (albeit a stretch) would be Sony/Nintendo merging.

Sony’s Net Worth as of 2021
US $260 billion

Microsoft’s Net Worth as of 2020
US $301.3 billion

Yes, there is a gap of 100 Billion USD.

HOWEVER companies do not want to buy-out other companies without it being somewhere around a 20% cost to their total SPENDING money. Net worth just tells you the total of how much each company is worth. I.E. - how much each building they own, each furnishing in that building, and intellectual properties to name a few.

So in actuality it would be more like having their revenue from the past year being their spending money.

Which means that Microsoft would be given a budget of roughly around $45.3 Billion as a spending budget, while Sony would have ~2.4 trillion yen (~US$20.8 billion).

Both of those numbers are far lower than each company’s Net Worth, so there is no time soon going to be a buyout.

Those numbers are wrong. Bill Gates personal net worth is approaching $150billion. Microsoft eclipses Sony.

I find the idea of Sony and Nintendo merging very interesting. Probably won’t happen but who knows.

Microsoft’s networth is 2.5 Trillion… With a T.

Net worth isn’t the figure we use for this type of comparison we look at earnings and market cap…
For example Sony has a MC. Of around 150B
Ms is 200+T
Apples and pinecones mate.

Indeed it is. I Copy-pasted the wrong number box. It appears I copy/pasted their assets number by mistake. One line away on the sheet.

Didn’t mean it that way. I meant that I don’t think any legal happenings will result unless Microsoft bought out Sony.

You are looking at MS as a whole, not MS gaming.

Gaming is keeping Sony afloat pretty much. Currently in terms of revenue the top gaming companies are Sony, Tencent and now MS with this current purchase. Gaming for MS is secondary, the lions share of MS’s value comes from outside gaming. Eh it might be Tencent and then Sony, but thats besides the point. Either way, to make your point you should use just MS gaming vs Sony gaming, but I don’t think those numbers are easily available.

Regardless you are correct. Sony will never sell to MS, and MS will never try to buy Sony.

After the total flop of Infinite, Microsoft had to buy CoD…prepare for Infinite taking the backseat.

… … … didn’t CoD Vanguard flop harder because only like 6 people bought it?

Tinfoil Hat time. I found it weird how there was so much “controversy” about Acti-Blizz, and sexual harassment or whatever the hell it was they keep spamming literally every gaming board across the Internet about. I was like man there is no way this is organic gamer outrage over this lol. Now I see why. Had to lower that stock value of Acti-Blizz some before the buyout lol.

Things like that have been happening for years over there, and I’m talking close to a decade or more, so I doubt it’s related. It’s like Riot Games and them being in the same scummy boat.

Despite ‘metaverse’ ambitions being partly responsible for the agreement, I think at the very least that an ActiBlizzard run by new upper-crust will be very beneficial for both its employees and IPs.
