God this game has so much potential to be great but due to the progression and microtransactions, I think a lot of players will leave. So they’re not only hurting us, they’re hurting themselves. I understand this game is F2P but there are better ways to monetize your game, locking 90% of the armor behind a paid battle pass isn’t it.
It’s really a damn shame to see a lot of the community hating on 343 for this when really I think it’s Microsoft making these horrible decisions. But do they care? I highly doubt it. They’ll only make changes if they aren’t making as much money as they hoped.
It’s hard to tell where Microsoft’s influence begins, but I seem to recall the latest gears of war game had a pretty awful monetization scheme that their community hated as well.
What’s really sad about it is all of 343’s communication before this beta was that the monetization was player friendly, that there was a lot of free items, that most of the cosmetics could only be earned and not purchased, and they weren’t using coatings to sell you simple armor colors back, all of these things are false so they either lied or someone changed the deal.
