I don’t like being a conspiracy theorist(Ok yes I do :P, but not with things like this.) but I’m going to go out on a limb here and say MS do not give a damn about Halo or Halo 4.
Why? My first thought was: why in the hell isn’t MS advertising the biggest XBOX title in years and the biggest game of the year? MS are known to be masterful with their advertising and also getting people to be majorly hyped with their games.
But think of it this way; if MS didn’t advertise Halo 4 much then more people will know about BO2 and buy it. The more people buying BO2 means the more money MS will get.
Now why would MS want this? They wouldn’t, as it isn’t the most ideal way to get loads of money; in fact advertising Halo 4 and more people buying that would definitely mean much more money for them than more people buying BO2.
So who would want this? Activision.
I think Activision paid Microsoft a ton of money to barely advertise Halo 4 so more people buy Black Ops 2. They’re pretty much partners right? I would not doubt this at all.
No doubt Activision paid MS millions of dollars to just lay low on Halo 4. This coupled with the fact that BO2 sells much more than it would have is: ultimately a gold mine for MS.
I’m not saying this is true at all nor proclaiming this as fact, maybe Activision paid out all companies to advertise their game instead of Halo 4? But would MS really let that go? MS like to come out top on everything, and also have a lot more money than Activision.
LOOK, who knows what the hell is going on, but WE can’t just act like everything is going normal.
> No doubt Activision paid MS millions of dollars to just lay low on Halo 4. This coupled with the fact that BO2 sells much more than it would have is ultimately a gold mine for MS.
Um, CoD is multiplatform movie game, so its obvious CoD will sold better.
I agree. I don’t know how many people at school ask me when Halo 4 even comes out. I swear I’m the only person I know who is genuinely excited for it. And the one friend I know that does plan on getting it is only getting it because it’s Halo. He knows nothing about it other than when it comes out. Which he had to find out from me.
I feel so little hype for Halo 4, it’s not even funny. Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited for Halo 4 as much as the next guy. But I remember being more anxious leading up to the release of ODST and Reach more than I am now for Halo 4. Although I feel Halo 4 will be much better than the two.
In a lot of MS’s weekly update emails, the advertisements have been taken over by the Didact’s symbol and flashed orange. They’re not only advertising Halo 4, they’re doing it VERY well indeed.
Rampant speculation serves no point but to rile yourselves up.
Evidence? Extraordinary claims require extraodinary evidence, got any? Even bog standard evidence?
…
Oh, I didn’t think so, we have weeks before the game is out, I’ve seen little advertising for any title coming out around a similar time, including AC3 or COD:BO2.
> I’m sure Microsoft would laugh at any bribe Activision could throw it’s way.
Activision can just more than bribe MS.
Also MS pays Activision money for exclusivity on 360, what if Activision said that they could still have that exclusivity is they did other favours for them.

That honestly means nothing. Look at the sales figures of Halo 3 and CoD4. Halo 3 sold more than CoD 4 did on all 3 platforms combined. That momentum should have carried on all the way to right now but I blame ODST and Reach being huge letdowns to the gaming community and resulting in more people moving to CoD.
i wouldnt say they’re doing it well…but there should be more trailers out there…remember gears of war 2…great advertising
i agree there isnt much advertising

BO2 is pretty much everywhere as is AC3.
I barely see Halo 4 except the Mountain Dew Halo 4 ad which is tiny(On IGN).
I’ve never seen Halo 4 on Youtube, in fact I’m sure I’ve seen more Dishonored than Halo 4 which is ridiculous.
Halo brings in millions of sales to Microsoft, plus Halo is at about 1M pre-orders. They care, care enough to give Halo is own Live action series, live action trailer, and so much more. Plus, you’re looking in the wrong places. I watch FX and Comedy Central sometimes, I have seen a total of 4 Halo ads over the past 5 days. Just wait.

Anecdotal evidence is worth exactly zero.

So you’re saying professional marketing execs don’t know what they’re doing? (Whether the advertising design is good or bad) Without any idea what the plan is? What’s coming in the next few weeks, after hiring David Fincher (of Fight Club) to direct an amazing ad…?
Yeah, where as I don’t claim to be any good at marketing myself, my work, or advertising in general, I’m not so presumptuous to assume that they literally don’t know how to do their own jobs.
