Umm… no. Bungie split from Microsoft for a reason, and they have a contract with Activision.
The odds of them coming back to Microsoft are low, and even that doesn’t even mean in the slightest that they’ll have anything to do with Halo.
The Bungie that made Halo isn’t really there. The higher-ups that spearheaded the Halo games aren’t there anymore. Bungie’s most recent project that they’re actually passionate about has half the game DLC locked and the story game-locked, not living up to expectations.
I wouldn’t be that thrilled at all if Bungie came back. I really don’t see where people assume that Bungie coming back automatically means Halo is “wonderful” and classic again. The composer is gone. The main story header is gone. They moved on because they weren’t passionate about Halo anymore. Their most recent game is even more comparable to Call of Duty in gameplay style than Halo 4 and 5 are, and was a major let down for a lot of people.
And bungie has a pretty strict 10 year contract with Activision and… Destiny…

I damn well hope so my friend! Franky said it on neogaf and the voice actor for Lasky in Halo 4 said “Excited to work with bungie for the first time” however they were removed because -Yoink!- probably doesn’t want to say anything until it is finalized. I wonder if halo 6 will be effected? Heres hoping!

It probably won’t be affected, because Bungie won’t have anything to do with Halo in the very slim chance they drop out of their strict contract with Activision, drop their new franchise, and come back to the company they waited nearly a decade to split from.

I could imagine Bungie co-developing a new Halo spin-off series with 343/Microsoft… but no way in hell would Microsoft buy Bunige, as they can’t due to a contractual obligation between Bungie and Activision for 10 years from 2010. It would be like Gears of War, Epic Games was not owned by Microsoft, but they developed games for them using Microsoft’s IP (Gears of War). Thats the only way I see this happening… if it is somewhat true.
I hope not. 343i seems to be on the right track with Halo, especially with the most recent update. Destiny, though it sold well, was a very very lackluster game. If Halo goes back to Bungie, i’d be extremely worried. Bungie isn’t the Bungie it was 10 or even 5 years ago.

Microsoft are doing just fine for profits.

It was the least liked, least played and had population drops like there was no tomorrow! It lost 80% of population 4 months after release whilst Halo 3 took 30 months to loose 80%!

Destiny would have been what it showed in the trailer but activision decided to dumb it down for simple minded drones that are more than happy to spend $20 on dlc 5 times a year!

The gameplay was decent. It wasn’t my cup of tea after coming from Halo.
And yet it still made absolute millions.
Bungie at the moment are in a total mess, plus they wanted to work on something new. Giving the reins back to them would screw halo to the high heavens.

Ya…no. good try OP. Bungie couldn’t legally do that without losing money and time with Activision.
And as Microsoft and 343i are companies, Halo 4 was a huge success still, even if fans didn’t care that much. $$$ numbers speak louder.
It is all speculations, no hard evidence. But it would be great to see bungie back.
