Tbh this article from the mainstream media is exactly how I feel about the game too.
It didn’t sell the Xbox Series X as a console (I know people are now saying it was intended to be an upscaled Xbox One game and sell Game Pass, but for me that is besides the point).
343 said they wanted Infinite to be a “love letter to Halo”, but they can’t even confirm whether the game will launch with missing features like 5 when asked by Halo YouTubers. The media and gaming community seem to be united in saying this game looks bad and a downgrade from previous Halo games like 3 and reach as well.
I think the worst part about this is that apparently there is no plans for a Halo sequel after this and this meant to be the Halo game we are stuck with for 10 years, with DLC being drip fed to fans instead of new games which raise the bar in terms of graphical and visual fidelity.
Also, having mentioned the graphics department, Halo Infinite, at least from the demo, has lowered the bar to looking worse than halo 3 and is now planning to keep it there for the foreseeable future (except for the raytracing patch post-launch). Graphics look very plasticky and it is missing the grit and immersion from older games. There wasn’t even a proper skybox in the demo when comparing to older games.
To conclude, Halo Infinite doesn’t seem like a “love letter” to the franchise, it seems like its death knell.

The news reporters, youtubers, basically anybody with an objective opinion talking about Halo, all basically say the same thing. And they should be, Halo isnt what it used to be. Nobody cares about it anymore…
Depends how you look at it. I was always going to buy an Xbox Series X, Xbox is my preferred platform for 3rd party. I was not going to buy Halo Infinite day one, too many questions are still not answered for me. The Halo Infinite campaign reveal was terrible imo, but there are other games I’ll be buying Series X for. Same with PS5, Ratchet and Clank is a must buy, when there’s a God of War, Horizon and another title or two, I’ll buy a PS5.
I do not think the Halo Infinite reveal killed Series X. It’s a current / cross gen title after all. It’s not a single deciding factor in purchasing a Series X imo. That reader review also failed to state that Xbox is about more than exclusives these days. Game Pass and X Cloud are just as important. There will be that amazingly beautiful must have game for the Series X.
Halo Infinite was never going to be that title imo. If it had been a Series X exclusive ? Different story.
If one game is going to make or break you buying a probably ~$500 console, then you probably shouldn’t be buying that console. Unless you have a ton of disposable income.
It’s difficult for me as I will get both eventually but usually five or so years down the line. PlayStation has VR and stunning AAA titles like God of War and Spiderman amongst many others.
I think Halo Infinite has sold me on the XSX. It looks like it will be a very fun campaign mode and these days I am far less concerned with multiplayer. I would love to see it take on more RPG elements where you can upgrade your armour and abilities.
Who cares if they aren’t showing us anything? We don’t even know prices or release dates yet… We will have all the info we need by launch to make our decisions. And if you are still unsure, you can always wait.

Judging by how fun the game looks, I doubt that’ll be an issue.

i have to agree, 343 has attracted every gamer but Halo fans

How? It resembles Halo almost perfectly. Sure, some of the weapons look slightly more modern, and the grappling hook is slightly controversial for some reason, but everything else looks spot on. It looks like Halo CE had Bungie had more time to finish their original vision.
8 minutes of outdated gameplay and people deem XSX is dead because of Halo…
Well i suppose shortsightedness affects even those in proffesional positions.
With 4 months to go, dont people realize there is much more to be shown? Multiplayer? New features? Improved customization? Unlockables? Stuff asked for since 2014 when MCC came?

This looks NOTHING like halo ce just beacuse you re outside in the wilderness, with trees and a halo ring as a background. Halo ce convinced you of its alien world and atmosphere, immense brutalist structures gave off an eerie vibe and a feeling of mystery like no other (to me at least). It looked ancient, beyond our understanding. It was there for you to explore yet you could not wrap you head around that cold, pulsating, religious perhaps monument
And 343 decided to give us hexagonal beams…
dont get me wrong, we havent seen much of other structures yet, but with this art style, i cant take it seriously…

> Dear lord… Millenial issues.
Indeed, I wonder how old the writer/reader is. I’m a millennial too (though on the older spectrum), but these entitled millennials that complain about everything and overreact like the cover of a youtube video are just to kick in the groin.
Read the comments in YT and blogs, people are liking what they see, that’s where the bigger market is, not here where a bunch of know-it-all nostalgic nerds demand the game be done to their liking.
343 cares about the community and they’ve done great but not perfect; it is great that you demand them and voice your opinion, it is great that you speak with your money. But some of you guys just come out looking like spoiled brats crying cause mommy didn’t buy you a hamburger, oh the drama!!!

Okay, newspaper platforms bitter gamer casually dismissing the impact of Covid. Seems legit Metro.
Because developing a new game engine and upscaling everything is exactly the same as giving you a model for Miles Morales in your existing Spider-Man game; then branding that as its own game. Sony is resting on it’s laurels because it has market share. 343 could have just done Halo 5.5 with us fighting Prometheans in a corridor like its last two games. It is not comparing like with like. Horizon Zero Dawn and Spider-Man were good enough to just churn out the same game. That’s not what Halo Infinite is.

They said it isn’t coming with ray tracing, so unless we see pre baked shadows then the game may release without any shadows, who knows at this point, I didn’t see many shadows or at least decent lighting in the demo.

Words of wisdom my friend, words of wisdom.
As an old saying goes, those who are satisfied are heard less because they don’t scream about being unhappy.
A problem in todays society, is that the angry minority are so loud with their voices, that they’re the ones who gets the spotlight and thus they create the drama we see. Something tells me out of a 100 players who watched the reveal, it’s the 25 of them who are unhappy about the changes, and thus they’re heard because of the other 75 nodding and smiling because of what they saw.
343 has never done their job perfect, who could? Humans can’t achieve a perfection but they can do their best. I believe in 343 because they’ve shown they care after MCC and its issues.
Supporting xbox one with new games like Halo Infinite is a very bad idea. I wanted to see high quality games like God of War and Last of Us. I was expecting Halo as a flagship with awesome graphics, animations and gameplay. It’s under development for 5 years and we got that outdated looking demo.
I’ll play it anyway and sure I’ll have fun but I’m very disappointed. My expectations were really high.
