I have been rushed more than my fair share with covenant and lost every time because I didn’t specifically prepare for it. I’m talking chieftain at my base around one minute with all his brutes following and stuff like that.
It seems to me that covenant are far superior to UNSC early game, with hero units being next to unstoppable. Definitely not comparable to any UNSC rush. Warthogs go down quick, tanks take too long (spartan tanks too). And anything else that I tried takes too long too.
What strategies have all of you found (if any) work against a hard, early, covenant rush?
If you’re getting Brute rushed - Brute Chieftain attacking with a constant stream of Brutes being warped in - you need to defend with Flamethrowers.
You need to scout to see it coming, or get lucky and see a BC approaching your base with time to spare. Regardless, even if you’re not playing as Cutter, a Barracks is still a viable building with useful units. Warthogs and Tanks aren’t the only units to use.
A moderate number of flamethrowers easily counters a Brute rush so long as you are prepared for it. They are cheap, train quickly, and are a hard counter against infantry units. You need to scout your opponents.
Flamethrowers are effective against any Covenant leader during early game.

Ok, that makes sense, but I remember trying that with limited success (enemy force destroyed all I had (around 4-8) pretty quickly, they are pretty weak as well). I’ll try it next time though thanks!

Like rudy said flamethrowers and build turrets with anti infantry and have your disruptor bomb on standby
might help to lock you base down while you are training flamethrowers, unlock when you have at least 3 ready.
-Not sure what the pro’s would think about that advice, but that’s what I do because it seems futile when you create 1 flamer at a time and he gets crushed before the next 1 is out

I don’t know since its been a while since ive played but I don’t think I’d have enough resources for all that within the first 3 minutes of the game

2 turrets one in front and one in back with flamethrowers and maybe ur teammate could use a disruptor to save u some supplies

but that’s 600… and a loss.
You can’t expect the enemy not to be WAY ahead of you if you use that any early in the game right??

Tried it already said earlier all I release at once get bodied quickly and am left with not enough resources or time to make any more + they could destroy my barracks.

If you take/contest map control then your opponent can’t freely expand.
It’s better to alter your strategy to counter your enemy than to just go with a set plan off the start. Your goal is to hinder your opponent’s plans; prevent them from doing what they want to do.

That’s the point. It’s supposed to be the most intense competitive experience with nobody else to back you up. Just you, your opponent and the map.
I mean, is debatable but less accountability for sure. However still can be your fault.

Right. But I don’t see that happening under rush. However flamers do work and a counter-rush would work well too probably (YT vid of same name as topic).
Anyway, very interesting ideology. I will encoorporate it into my way of playing.
