Metal Case Question

(I’m not sure if I should post this here, or at the Halo 2 section…)

Sometime back, I bought a used copy of the Limited Edition of Halo 2. It looked alright when I bought it, if a little beaten up. Recently, while digging through my games, I noticed the metal case appears to be developing little spots of wear, turning into rust. It’s been in a plastic tote with my other games, and has never been wet, so I’m not too sure what the exact cause of the wear is (other than it being pre-owned). Is there anything I can do to keep this from turning into a real issue?

all i can think of is rub it down with some wd 40. no guarantees though.

I kinda got the same issue.

WD40 is a water displacer. It won’t remove the rust, only get rid of the moisture.
With no chemicals, rust can only be polished out. Which would ruin the case.
With chemicals, there are some rust removers you can buy, but I have no idea what the affects on the case would be.

Bottom line, I think you are screwed.
