Messed up Reach disc

My Reach disc is messed. It used to boot me out only occasionally after I finish a game. Since then, I took very good care of it but for some reason it only got worse. I got boot out after finishing a game about every two or three games until it booted me out after finishing one game. After that, loading times were very slow. After that, the disc fails to load content and if I go on Matchmaking, it freezes the lobby because I can’t load the maps. It boots everyone in the lobby out to restart their search after a few tries.

I can’t install the game or anything because I don’t have a hard drive. I’m using a 4GB Slim. I don’t remember doing anything that could harm my disc except leaving it in the xbox turned off or sometimes (very rarely) placing it outside of it’s case.
However, my disc has quite a lot of scratches, which is very weird because all my other discs are in very good shape. I wonder if when a friend came over they dropped or stepped on the disc or something.

I don’t use my Reach disc anymore because I’m afraid Xbox will ban me. There is also no point of playing Reach if I don’t get full credits and I spend more time rebooting the game than actually playing. So this is why I play on my CEA disc, with limited maps and modes.

Any suggestions to help me solve this problem? Just wait until Halo 4?

please lick it, just once, for me ok?

I was talking about the disc btw

Why do I see you all around the forums telling people to lick discs?

for your information mr this is only the second time I’ve asked that, and you’re lucky I decided to put that second sentence in there or else things would’ve been completely different.

I bet it turns him on lol.

Anyway, I assume that you never installed the disc, correct?

lol yeah I’ve never installed the disc. Well, because I don’t have a hard drive. Does installing discs help your xbox to read them?

Yes. If you install the game then break the disc, you can put the broken disc in the tray and the game should still run. Reach is also optimized to run on your hard drive or other memory storage devices, so if you install the game will also play noticeably smoother.

If you don’t have a hard drive, what do you store your player data on, and how much free space is left on it?

wait wait wait wait wait, so you’re saying that I could have broken my reach disc in half, and yet still be able to play it? hell yeah! I’ve always wanted to do that

In theory, yes, but I wouldn’t recommend doing so, since running a broken disc can damage your Xbox.

I don’t think he means “broken” in that way. I’m pretty sure he’s saying broken as in not working properly.

4GB Xbox Slim. It still stores data but I’m pretty sure you can’t install games on the console. (not hard drive)
I have like 1GB left on my Xbox or something. Should get a hard drive soon.

well the thing never actually spins so I think it’ll be ok as long as I don’t put a bunch of fragments in there with it.

another way for you to store memory is to use the cloud storage. just sayin

but seriously though guys, LICK…THE…DISC… that is all

Halo: Reach takes up I believe 7.8 GB of memory. If you can locate some form o external memory storage device like a flash drive/thumb drive or something.

FYI, you should always install games that you intend to play a lot, because a disc can become damaged if it is played too often. If you plan to get Halo 4, you should get a hard drive before it’s released so that you can install it right away once you get it.

Good idea. I’ll also need a hard drive for Forge.
