Message To The Community

Firstly, let me introduce myself. As of recently I go by the name NESTLE, old GT’s no longer relevant as this is my main, and this is my first post/thread/comment on any Halo forum ever. With that being said I understand if every member who reads this thread takes anything I say with a grain of salt or less. Now, I did not play competitive Halo in the glory days of H2 other than 2 weeks prior to the servers closing so I wasn’t introduced to competitive Halo until H3. However, I’ve watched countless H2 tourneys, streams and videos so I feel I have the same outlook on gameplay as any Halo vet.

Everyone knows the Halo competitive community is hurting right now. Its everywhere, from this site, to waypoint, to youtube. Hell i’ve even seen CoD players talking about it during there gameplays. It’s just common knowledge at this point. That in itself is hurting the H4 population in its own right. What I dont understand, and what is the point of this thread, is how I get on EVERYDAY. EVERYDAY and play this game. Going in Throwdown solo is not ideal but I do it. Why? because its competitive and I dont always have a team to run with. Also, there is no reason not to play solo as there is no ranking system yet so everyones argument of not playing throwdown solo is irrelevant. Do I do nearly as good as i would with a team? No, but I can still practice my callouts and practice MY gameplay even without a team of 4. Is it perfect? No. Is it H2 or 3? No. Do we have a somewhat accepted, decent and playable competitive playlist? YES. So someone please tell me why there were 401 people in Throwdown yesterday when I got on at 5pm but yet I could almost bet there were double that amount of people either on THC or Waypoint commenting and posting ABOUT the throwdown playlist while the population suffers.

I’ve been sitting quietly, patiently watching the Halo community for quite some time now and right now it seems we need as many people as we can get which is why I’m here. Im not here to bash THC or Waypoint or anyone for that matter so please refrain from posting and flaming about my post. This is my opinion and it’s as good as any other fellow Halo players. My point, in a nutshell is yes, while feedback to dev’s is good, always complaining about the game and not playing it doesn’t help. For instance, why would Ghost or 343i keep putting all this effort we want into developing this playlist and changing settings to make it better for a dwindling population of 400-500 people while Infinity for some god awful reason still has 6k playing in it. We as a community need to push for what we want but at the same time play the competitive playlist we are given right now at the time. If we dont all start playing more and get the throwdown population up a bit no matter what settings come out the playlist will cease to be popular.

We’ve got some good things going for us right now. Tournaments being held, a competitive playlist, some big names playing again Some streaming such as Gandhi, who hate him or love him is an amazing player and commentator and deserves all the respect in the world. Not to mention he’s a true Halo fan and is trying his hardest to get this community back to what it used to be. I miss Halo, just as much as the next person and im saddened by the road thats its going down but we CAN do it. Just play the game. Show your support OTHER than in the forums. Sure, sprint BLOWS, its a big game changer and im all for pushing to get no sprint put in throwdown. Alongside 4sk BR and all 4 weapon starts. Whatever proves to be the most competitive but right now, I have v3 Throwdown, and I’ll be playing it until the last person puts away there H4 disk. THATS what Halo fans do. Play the game with whats been given to you and HOPE that what were pushing for gets done. I want to see the Throwdown playlist thrive and it can. It’s really not as bad as some people are making it out to be for christs sake. Ghost is a pro and he put his sweat and hard work into that playlist and he deserves a lot more credit than he is getting. So please for the love of Halo, play the playlist. Go ahead, lock my thread, bash me, flame or whatever but this is the truth and it needs to be done. Thanks guys.

First of all, LMAO at this thread.

Second, you don’t speak for me. I don’t under stand why there are some here who think they speak for everyone else.

I didn’t bother reading, too long

I’m just assuming it’s another DMR nerf/This game sucks/Farewell

That’s actually not what it was at all.

At magic, no I want speaking for you or trying to speak for anyone else. That’s just my opinion. At second post, lol no it’s not another dmr nerf thread. or a farewell. don’t be so quick to assume

I do not understand why you feel the need to spam walls of text on this forum.
Maybe you could condense it into several key lines instead, eh?

I feel for you as a competitive player but I want to slap you upside the head for thinking you can just spam your 5 paragraph personal story.

I recommend that you condense your thoughts into several bullets. Examine your 3 paragraphs and extract 1-2 main points from each.

Once you have done that, you can present them to us again.

Edit: I just read one of the paragraphs and I have concluded that you are an awful writer and/or incredibly impatient. You need to write ONE sentence for each of the 4 that you created. Then, write a 5th sentence as you conclusion.

It really hurts to read man. Why dont you delete it and then repost it later.

Don’t read it then simple as that. I’d like to slap you upside the head for acting like this is YOUR halo forum. the nerve of some people. and it’s not a personal story, it’s a state of the game and what I feel needs to happen. Save your pointless comments

Wrong, this guy is actually asking competitive players to play Team Throwdown and support the game.

> Second, you don’t speak for me. I don’t under stand why there are some here who think they speak for everyone else.

How can he speak for the competitive community while trying to talk to the competitive community?

Commception?

OP: I don’t speak for the competitive community (to be honest, I kind of suck, Cannon Fodder is my role at the moment), but I do think I can say something.

The competitive community feels like it just got stabbed in the back after comments made at the GDC, and I can’t blame them, destroying the skill gap in Halo is never a good thing.
They don’t want to support this game anymore.
And besides, surely a better way would be to play Halo 3 and Reach, that would send a message that they don’t like Halo 4.

You come with good intentions, but, as I have learnt after seeing what happened to one of my threads and other peoples threads, you won’t change anything.

I would argue the same about you. You are reacting to the face value of my replies to you, but I really have your best interest in mind.

I think you writing is abysmal, but I have been encouraging you to rethink your thoughts and try to fit it all into a single paragraph.

You will notice that the first 2 replies to your thread were bashing you for ranting. Maybe I am onto something?

I’m not playing Throwdown (or whatever it is called) because I’m not playing Halo 4.

Simple reasons why that is, almost all my games are extremely laggy and there is very little skill gap. I’m being beaten by whoever has host or whoever lives closest to the host. I’m not a Halo God by any means, but I know that I am a good player.

If they had some connection filter, and managed to make the game more balanced then I might play properly again. I would prefer to see a Social Slayer playlist like in Halo 3, I spent 70% of my Halo 3 games in that playlist.

I don’t want to be forced to try hard in every game, that is why I played Social Slayer so much. When I felt like trying, I’d either play Social Slayer more competitively or play a Ranked Playlist like Lone Wolves or something like that.

Other than the couple decent people that posted on this thread. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s the community that is causing most of the problems. To come on my thread and attempt to assault my intelligence is beyond me. BTW I wrote this thread on my gnex so yes I’m impatient. This community is full of cry babies. Thanks to the positive responses from those that gave them.

Then you shouldn’t have worded your thread the way you did. I guess you didn’t see the GDC panel or the response Ghandi and other former players did for it. Theres already a 68 page thread on that specific subject. I’m sorry but hardly anyone is going to support Team Throwdown.

> So someone please tell me why there were 401 people in Throwdown yesterday when I got on at 5pm but yet I could almost bet there were double that amount of people either on THC or Waypoint commenting and posting ABOUT the throwdown playlist while the population suffers.

The answer is quite simple. the competitive community is a very vocal minority. They are so vocal that 343 catered to them and gave them Team Throwdown.

On top of that they are making more changes to Team Throwdown to keep all 400 of you happy when they should be implementing much needed changes to other playlists that a lot of people actually play. Their priorities are off, and 400 Team Throwdown fans get the beneifit while the majotity of Halo players sit and wait for updates to populated playlists.

Sorry, my rant is over now.

@Nestle

I’m right there with you, the only thing that keeps me playing Halo 4 is the Throwdown playlist. If the matchmaking wasn’t so bad and underpopulated on Halo 3, I would still be playing that, but it’s just not worth the effort.

Back to throwdown though, I really feel bad personally for whoever plays other playlists, because they are terrible. If it has infinity anything in it, it’s basically fiesta called Infinity Slayer. Just sad gameplay.

All throwdown is though is the MLG playlist, and it has never been very populated in the other Halo games, so there’s no reason to believe it would be heavily populated in Halo 4. Under 1000 is about right, most people just can’t play without a radar. It’s actually pretty funny and sad all at the same time. Playing without a radar has more advantage to it that it being a disadvantage. People don’t realize that, or just aren’t smart enough to realize someone is there and to shoot them.

I really think you are on the wrong forum though, the Waypoint forums have shown the intelligence of the Halo community as a whole, and it’s not good. It even shows up in this thread with someone complaining about the length of your post. It took what all of 5 minutes for me to read and comprehend the whole thing. Big deal, it’s not simple one sentence bullet points for the uneducated among us, so the guy calls you a bad writer. That right there, just shows what you are up against on this forum, and it’s best to just play the game, and leave these idiots to live in their dream world.

Uh-oh, I have four big paragraphs, most people won’t read my comment, oh well.

You have a noble cause, you really do, but as said before: one playlist that has been slightly catered to the people that made their voce heard isn’t enough. We want to see Halo 4 improved as a whole.

The most I do now is spartan ops with my sister and forge with a few friends from time to time because I feel a little disheartened every time I enter a multiplayer match. People are also kind of going through somewhat of a “boycott” to Halo 4 gameplay right now. There are also a lot of other games that just came out and, lets face it, this Halo game hasn’t exactly left much of a reason to come back to it. I’m not angry with anyone even though I feel I should be. I’m just sad to my one of my favorite games go out like this.

There are supposed to be at least two more new Halo games. I don’t think I’ll be getting them.

i agree with the op. and as for people that are to lazy to read a few paragraphs, i will stop there.

I prefer Rumble Pro to be honest. Team Throwdown lacks maps and gametypes, has BR starts only (unless you play -Yoink- deluxe, no offense), and has a massive quitting issue.

Rumble Pro gives you all starting rifles (even if there are some balance issues present), and you aren’t punished for soloing because it’s an FFA playlist.

> BUT COMPETITIVES R VOCAL MINORITY

Right, which is why Rumble Pro is voted for at least half of the time. -Yoink- pls.

Just because throwdown has issues doesn’t mean competitives don’t exist.

343 misinterprets playing their game as supporting their wacky decisions. This is evident in speeches they make and presentations they give.

“11.6 million people played Halo 4!”

That’s awesome. Apparently less than 1% stuck around even while DLC was still rolling out.

They already have our $ and the sales figures. We can’t get that back. If the population wasn’t plummeting they’d never get the message at all.

The population sucks and Halo 4 dropped to #4 on the xbox live charts faster than any other Halo and they already don’t get it.

This has to be the most poorly written OP I’ve seen all day. I agree with the topic, kind of, but Jesus, take a writing class.
