Why are we so mad over whats going on? The game is not totally broken. Stuff works, just not all, and a patch is coming. Sure its delayed, but I like that compared to if it wasnt working at all if we did have it available 11/11/19.
So I ask you this: Why are you all making such a BIG deal of all of this? Did you expect this collection of FOUR AAA shooters to have a perfect launch, when games this size RARELY have a smooth lanuch. Take Battlefield 4 for example. DICE took months to fix it and thats FAR too long. 343 is taking a bit over a week. That in itself is great news. Ubisoft screwed up epicly with AC: Unitys launch, but they are making adjustments to the game and making patches. Bungie has had their share of mistakes. One nearly destroyed them financially till Microsoft bought them. And that was after they corrected their mistakes in Myth 2. They took a couple months to patch Halo 2. That was a VERY broken game off launch, and that was the first online console FPS game! Yet it still was HIGHLY successfull.
Guys, 343i is COMMITED to you guys, fixing their post-launch mistakes, and ensuring they wont give up.
The whiners and tantrum-throwers need to stop…simply stop. You arent making the situation any better. Instead you are making the once great forums nothing but a flame war and its unecessary. Its similar to Bungies new forums. I like Destiny, but its forums are half full of complainers (some for good reason and some just for attention) and half full of reasonable, logical people that understand how tough game development really can be…especially AAA titles.
While trolls and immature people yell and whine about how broken they think The Master Chief Collection is, they fail to see what works about it. I find Custom Games TONS of great fun, Forge (when it works…which is most of the time) very fun where you can be creative, and we can play four of the BEST FPS campaigns made in the last 15 years. That in itself is awesome! I want all four games’ multiplayers to work better now, but Id rather have 343 Industies take an extra day or two to double and triple check their patch(es) to make sure they work and see MCC work as it need to work.
Sincerely,
A member of the Halo Community and Supporter of 343i.

You dont know…you do? They said something like Friday or this weekend. If they delay it once again, that wont be nice, but they are making sure it WORKS.
And let me correct your statement so its readable: “An extra day. Really? Are you sure its just an extra day?”
I personally don’t hate 343 or Microsoft, it is the gaming industry that annoys me it’s not just 343 alot of games have terrible launches and people who accept it only make the problem worse as this becomes acceptable behavior for games companies as gamers expect the game to be broken on launch which shouldn’t be the case

Its not that at all…they dont polish their games off enough and rush them at the end to get them into the market. But I agree game companies MUST begin taking more time to polish their games so they function well at launch.

I couldn’t care less about other companies games not working. I didn’t buy an Xbox One solely for their games like I did with MCC. When you pay for something and it is broken, you have every right to complain. I don’t understand why you 343 fans think otherwise. Are you happy that you payed for a broken game?

Yes, yes we did. I didn’t buy a system and pre-order a game to beta test it. I bought it to play the finished game.
Also, the argument that we were naive to expect a AAA title to be bug free is flawed. 1. By virtue of the fact that it’s such a big title, they should have a more rigorous testing process. 2. This isn’t 4 AAA shooters, this is 4 old games that have been previously developed. That means they should have had even MORE time to debug the multiplayer portion, since that would likely be the most development heavy portion of the game. 3. As a consumer, it is my right to expect that products I purchase work as advertised. It is NOT my responsibility to adjust my expectations and give game developers a pass. Doing so only gives devs and incentive to release half-finshed products, and that hurts all of us.

Let’s see you mash up four different titles all with different net-coding and game-coding together and see if you can get a flawless title out in time for an anniversary release.
If the game was not ready they should not have released it. Bad launches seem to be happening more and more with new games and that’s not a good sign.
The next AAA game that releases as a so called “finished” game, for a full price, is going to be like playing a game that was made in 15 minutes, and is only 3% complete
Why am I so mad? I made plans with friends and 343 waisted my time. I’ve spent $60 with very little to show for it and the community is leaving or returning their copies which hurts matchmaking even after they’ve patched it.
So why am I so mad you ask? Because everything revolving around this problem has caused me problems and devalued the product I’ve purchased.

I said it in my letter. Because its not totally broken.

So what? What other product would you buy in where you would be satisfied with significant lapses in the advertised functionality? Just because it “mostly works” makes it okay? Just because the manufacturer agrees to try to restore the functionality in a week or two makes it okay? If you are willing to accept that - fine. That’s your opinion. But why should someone else accept it? Why would you object when someone else decides not to accept it?
I’m all for shutting down those people who compare the MCC release to the apocalypse and other similar overstatements, but I am wholly against anyone who says I should simply accept what happened based on 343i working hard to fix it after the fact. The only thing that attitude accomplishes is reinforce the gaming industry’s bad habit of releasing partially functional software. If the project was too big and Microsoft and/or 343i forged ahead anyway, that’s their poor decision. They don’t need others to apologize for them - they need to realize that the decision they made resulted in unhappy customers. Perhaps next time they will make a different decision.
Anyone who paid for the game has a right to complain when significant out-of-the-box functionality is missing. Whether the company later fixes it is irrelevant to that complaint.
