I’m still on the idea of a Mendicant Bias fragment being the bad guy. It makes sense to me.
-
Convinced by the flood to kill off the Forerunners.
-
Would need the Halos to kill them, so he would be pissed if they were destroyed.
-
Assuming the Didact/Bornsteller is still alive, he would be the one thing able to keep Mendicant dormant (unless he is dead, then the orb would have to be Offensive Bias)
-
Seeing how Offensive Bias isn’t around anymore, there are no “super” AIs to fight Mendicant’s control over the Promethean Knights (that’s where Cortana would come in with her own knights {the blue ones})
-
We have seen an Installation in a Halo 4 menu, giving me the idea that we travel to this Halo sometime towards the end. My full explanation here. If a Mendicant fragment is on/in Requiem, then he may want to connect himself with other fragments, one of which could have found its way to the ring, which could explain why Cortana flips out- “I will not allow you to leave this planet.”
I may be wrong, and all this speculation is worthless, but I haven’t read any other theories that could prove me wrong with higher proof.
Edit: Also need to note that Mendicant hasn’t had a huge part on the games other than the terminals in H3. Seeing how he is a major character in the novels (sorta being there without being seen a lot) it wouldn’t surprise me if 343 add him and finally give him to the majority.
Update
I remembered in a bulletin that Requiem was considered a prison planet. To hold an extreme threat to the galaxy. If you go to the new HaloUnity.com there is a moderator named The Warden, who uses a Monitor for their avatar. Well what Prison is there without a Warden? This NOW leads me to believe that the cryptum holds The Warden. Whether it be the Didact or not, I can’t be sure anymore.
I’m fairly sure that if Mendicant Bias resurfaces at any point then it will be the fragment hitching a ride with Cortana that wants to repent for his sins. We don’t really know what happened to Offensive Bias but as far as I’m concerned he is the counterpart to Mendicant Bias so I would expect him to appear at some point in the future.
Question is; What has happened to Offensive Bias after all this time? Mendicant Bias seems to have achieved something akin to metastability, which appears to be rare even for Forerunner AI, and the idea of Offensive Bias being rampant is pretty terrifying.

That and Mendicant Bias was obliterated by the activation of Installation 04B in Halo 3. He was on the Ark when Halo activated as noticable by him being the one talking to you through the terminals.

Again, sorry if I’m wrong, but I don’t think you understand.
Mendicant was broken up into several fragments and scattered across the galaxy, after activating the rings, and then being defeated by Offensive Bias and the “New” Didact.
One was on the Ark, which was the fragment from High Charity. All others are unaccounted for.

I know he was broken into fragments. a fragment was the one who told the Prophets of the prophesy of “reclamation” which they took to believe that they were to reclaim the Forerunner technology. I only stated that he was on the Ark when Halo went off, and it wasn’t a fragment of him, it was the original. Sorry if I came off as rude, I was just stating what I know.

Nope, Halo just tends to cause a lot of misunderstanding.

I’m sorry, did I misunderstand something as to why you gave me that reply, or…

Your reply wasn’t rude at all. I just took it as you missing information, due to assumption. My fault, but still a useful piece of information for any future readers who may not know. Again, sorry for the confusion.

That’s ok, as long as we’re clarified on the information for future readers to understand, that’s all I ask.
