Memories of Reach needs to justify Meridian Addons

The amount of unique content in this DLC is incredibly lacking. Two (sort of ugly?) skins for Mk IV and V, and a new armor + 2 variants is fairly disappointing (granted I appreciate a new visor that isn’t some weird mesh of various colors). The skins are alright (nothing eye opening) and the vehicles are just modified versions of existing content that (most likely) use assets already available in the game. The maps seem alright, but when you compare this update to all previous updates, the lack of new content becomes apparent.

I don’t want to sound like one of those Waypoint users proclaiming that 343 is ripping us off or that they’re up to some nefarious scheme, but this update is an outlier when it comes to the level of content we’ve come to expect.

What I’m hoping is that 343 is very hard at work with Memories of Reach, and that the amount of work they’ve been putting into creating that update started cutting into progress on the two new maps. Because otherwise, if Memories of Reach ends up to be just another standard update (one/two new armors, a few new armor skins, a set of weapon skins, two or more weapon variants, one to two new maps and/or remixes, and maybe a new weapon), then the lack of content in this update isn’t justified whatsoever.

Personally, I’m hoping that 343 is planning on introducing new vehicles and weapons from Reach (the Grenade Launcher, Focus Rifle, Revenant, and Falcon would be amazing additions to the sandbox and are my personal choices) as well as Infection and a Forge World remake in Memories of Reach. To me, not only would this entirely justify Meridian, but it would be a long awaited improvement to Halo 5 as a whole.

Anytime someone puts Reach in the title of something it brings high expectations. Hoping they live up to that.

I predict if Infection isn’t in the Reach update people will riot. Otherwise well said.

It’s basically inevitable that Memories will be the straw that broke the camels back if it doesn’t come with infection.

This game will lose even more people again if the Reach update doesn’t bring a lot. I am running into the same people in matchmaking more and more everytime I rub off the dust of this bare bones game.

It’s quite literally 343’s job to ensure that players maintain their interest in Halo until the release of the next major Halo title comes out (which excludes HW2). I can’t really see H5 lasting too long without a strong custom games player base, which the game absolutely lacks right now.

GoM is still pretty big but I do agree that MoR needs to be huge (regardless if you think this update is small or not).

We can assume that no warzone map will be added with the Memories of Reach update, which is usually the highlight of an update (Ghosts of Meridian) or is a big staple of it (How Battle of Noctus was to The Cartohrapher’s Gift). These maps also take quite a lot of effort to make, polish, and get ready to ship. So without one of these maps in the Memories of Reach update, that leaves a lot of possibilities for Arena, BTB, and new REQs.

2 new maps and more junk to grind is plenty with the inevitability of Warzone Firefight’s arrival.
