Memories of Reach - armor customisation?

I’m currently in the middle of a massive amount of uni work but I just had to post something about this so it was out in the community.

That piece of concept art at the end of the news update that Bravo said he “saw laying around earlier this week” (https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/community/blog-posts/campaign-relief)…

Is the deeper level of armor customisation that Halo: Reach coming to Halo 5? I never owned Reach but I played it a few times and remembered how you could customise so much more. I definitely remembered that more after I saw that concept art Bravo shared.

From The Armory (Halo: Reach) | Halo Alpha | Fandom

> In Halo: Reach, there are ten available slots for Spartan armor customization. The ten available slots customizable to Spartans feature the Helmet, Left and Right Shoulder, and the Chest piece, returning from Halo 3. The six new slots for customization include Wrist, Utility, Visor Color, Knee Guards, Armor Effect, and Firefight Voice. In addition, the player’s helmet can be “upgraded” with various gadgets, known as Helmet Variants.

I think a really cool extra thing would be to add Forerunner or Covenant style objects to your armor. Like instead of having a UNSC-style dagger on your shoulder plate or human weapon ammo on your forearm, what if you had a Forerunner style blade hovering above your shoulder plate like the orange glowing bayonet attachment you can get in Warzone? Or Forerunner style shoulder and forearm pads that hover a short distance away from your actual body, kinda like the Didact’s armor?

I love this game so much :stuck_out_tongue: Anyways, back to work for me but go ahead and discuss amongst yourselves!

Probably not, unfortunately. 343 seems pretty set on their current armor/REQ system. Hopefully they’ll learn from the community feedback and go back to Reach style armor customization in Halo 6.

Its concept art for emiles armor? I dont really see how that infers a better customization system.

I honestly hope not, I really don’t want to grind for another 220 arms/legs/shoulder peices. It worked fine in reach since there was a lot less overall and you could pick and choose what you wanted to unlock with your points.

I think if the customization were to change, the armor REQ cards should contain armor “sets” so you wouldn’t have to find all of the pieces separately.

I don’t think it’s coming to Halo 5. Halo Reach over killed customization IMO. Did we really need to customize our Utility/Knee guards/Wrist? I wouldn’t mind H3 customization but H5 is fine to me

For many of us, yes we do need to customize our Utility/Knee Guards/Wrists. It gives us a sense of personalisation to our Spartans that just isn’t available in Halo 5.

It at least needs to be head, arms, legs, and torso. Just ‘body’ ruins just about every armor set in the game that offers a nice array of parts but has one or two weak segments.

God, I hope this doesn’t happen. There’s too much armor variance in this game as is. Nothing ruins my req packs more than receiving helmets and armor 5 or 6 times in a row.

This would have been a cool concept back when they first started developing the req system because they could have opted to have less helmets and armor in favor of being able to customize shoulder plates and utility belts as well. Then the current game could have the same number of armor customization spread out over 10 different slots instead of just upper body and helmet. If they add additional customization to what already exists then req packs will be flooded with stupid items.

I just think it’s too late to implement this without making the weapon certifications harder to get. No one wants to open 10 silver packs in a row and receive nothing but armor mods.

The armor set will surely be delivered like this, already “customized”, but you won’t be able to change anything

I want it back. This is currently one of my biggest complaints with Halo 5.

^^ This. Hopefully Halo 6 has true armor customization.
