This thread is mainly for the older vets, sorry, you young pups, you just can’t appreciate this except with age.

Remember the first time a friend or relative had you come over and showed you this new awesome game (halo) you have never heard of before?

Remember the utter shock you felt the first this friend or relative gave you a melee to the back of the head?

Remember the uber-pistol, and the first time you were pwned with it, over and over again because you had no idea that 3 shots to the head would kill you?

Remember the swords the elite used to carry? and how on legendary, the first time through, it was almost a terrifying experience when one of these beasts jumped out at you the first time through campaign.

Remember how stoked you were the first time you heard or saw that the sword was now going to be available for spartan use on H2?

Remember how pissed you were the first time someone instantly dropped you from a BxR?

Remember the noob combo, and introducing the noob combo to friends who didn’t play online?

Remember super bounces? and how people would run around for hours looking for stupid little spots to land on jumps so that it would send you sky high?

There are so many memories I could share of H3, but its still playable on XBL, but heres to the hopes that 343 can recreate the magic that was CE, 2, and 3… feel free to share some of your fond memories…

Also, feel free to add old exploits that you wouldn’t mind seeing make a return. (i’m not saying they should, just saying it wouldn’t upset you if it did come back)

I remember Halo 1 on PC

Getting as many vehicles as possible into the caves on blood gulch.

Everyone calling you a banshee noob.

I remember seeing the flood for the first time and having nightmares for weeks… Some scary stuff at a young age. I also remember after killing one of the elites with the sword, looking around for the weapon it carried for like ten minutes straight. Some of my best memories are from CE… Then playing on live for the first time ever… Good times…

I remember the second level Halo, when I thought the waterfall was where I was supposed to go.

And finding shooting assault rifles without a marine.

I remember my first skull, black eye on that mission that I never regretted playing.

I also remember going to the stairway of heaven, and idiots who couldn’t drive the spectre up a 75 degree wall.

Ha! One of the funniest first time Halo player memories I have is from when I could barely remember what each gun shot or looked like, and I had to constantly ask my friend (playing split-screen) what the heck I was holding.

“Is this the shotgun? No? Oh, it’s the SMG. Ok, is th-”

“No, that’s not it either.”

Man, I remember how I would think that I had the almighty shot gun for a second, creep up around a corner expecting to nail some poor soul in the face with a well placed burst from a single tap of the controller, but no. I would spring from my trap with the pathetic snap of a single SMG round and a useless beat down that did nothing at all except to embarrass me.

Man… those were the days. I miss them so much. I used to know next to nothing about Halo until my friend showed it to me (I originally thought it was some popular religion based game or something). Now, I consider myself a true devote Halo fan that closely follows the books, has every single game (including pc), knows the lore of the franchise, and can finally put a name with a weapons face :). I HAVE come a long way.

i remember the first introduction to brutes, i thought they were harry armorless elites. but then i saw Thel 'Vadamee and realized they were an entirely new species. and then the drones. Halo 2 had the best campaign. i hope H4’s campaign is like it
