memo to all BTB warthog drivers!

Dear Warthog drivers:

Please be advised of the following:

Nowhere is it written that you must drive like a maniac, as fast as possible at all times.

Terrain physics that serve to unbalance the warthog are all exacerbated by your high speed and erratic driving.

Unless you both have headphones and communicate well, your gunner should share your sightline. If he or she does so, give him/her time to finish of the target if you are not in direct and imminent danger.

Time to finish off the target is more than 1/10 of 1 second.

Recall that when you overturn the Warthog, you are exceptionally vulnerable and have drawn attention to your predicament.

Therefore, try not to overturn the Warthog.

Brakes are your friend.

All of the above is just my opinon, but d*mned if I cant find a driver who gets it. maybe 5% of the time they play it smart. The other 19 out of 20 times, they drive as fast as possible until they flip.

Your opinions are welcome.

You can have a good driver or a good gunner, but never both.

Every time i gun, the guy drives directly forward at t he enemy until its inside my deadzone and i cant shoot it.

Every time i drive like a boss, my gunner is swinging a bottle of Jack Daniels around along with the gun, and holds the trigger down 24/7 until it overheats just as we come across at enemy.

Agreed (shakes head).

Solution=dedicated race playlist.

Kinda like drivers ed for future warthog drivers =D

I needed that giggle…from all of you.

Most importantly

Keep your targets in front of you. Driving past an enemy forces your gunner to do a complete 180.

I wouldn’t necessarily say that. I’m a decent/good driver, and my friend is a decent/good gunner, and together we can go for minutes at a time (Whole matches in H3), but when we’re missing someone, two minutes top.

It’s all about communication and knowing who you’re with.

If I have a Hog, I will purposefully drive to wherever my friend is to pick him up, past my own teammates, just because I can trust him.

And yes, I did take this joke thread seriously…

::two thumbs down::

Please dont drive at the enemy tank when its facing us.

One game I played BTB heavies on cragmire and was an awesome driver, with an awesome gunner. After being pelted by bullets out of my wraith I joined my teammate in a gauss hog. He shot down everything and anything, scorpions, wraiths, falcons, everything. We died after he got an unfrig medal. Here’s the game

Long story short, you don’t necessarily need brakes or communication.

H3 Hog > HR Hog

All day …

you may not always need the communication, which is what the OP said, but more often than not, either the gunner or the driver is not skilled or situationally aware enough to preform the way you want them to

this is why they made headsets…which apparently NO ONE has on XBL anymore coughArenacough

Can you still do the warthog trick where you are driving at full speed and jump out and jump in the gunner position while its still rolling? I have not even thought about that in years, I may hop into BTB just to try that out LOL

@ mitch 35542 I had a similar experience on Graveyard. I was driving, an unknown to me at the time teammate was the gunner, and I did my best to keep every target at 12 oclock, I let him finish the target if he missed once or twice, and we got about 20 kills, then a banshee killed us, then we hooked up again and got 10 or 12 more using the same SLOW and REVERSE method. I dont have the game. The gunner’s name was Ocho Colas. Good player.

So you’re saying that driving into a giant cluster of enemies when they have a Wraith, a Revvie, and another Warthog is not the best thing to do? :stuck_out_tongue:

Joking aside, I absolutely agree! I’m certainly not the greatest driver (although, I was doing freakin’ AMAZING last night in a game of Rocket Hog Race), but I can drive when the circumstances warrant it!

My two cents: I would also like a driving playlist back.

I like to think that playlists other than normal Slayer should be training grounds for getting you better with certain aspects of the game.

SWAT - DMR

Snipers - Sniper

Grifball - Hammer (to a small extent)

I for one miss the Race playlist (or whatever it was called). I also think there should be some grenade only gametypes (or playlists maybe?) dodgeball anyone?

I’m a pretty good driver and gunner, people need to learn to take it a bit easier when going full throttle over hills, don’t go too close to enemies, etc etc.

You don’t always have to keep the target right in front of you at the 12 o’clock position. It can often be very useful to drive in a relatively wide circle around the target, which makes it hard for the target to fire back.

Most players who suck at driving, don’t read these forums. Your post is in vain.

I drive warthog a lot and I think I am a good driver. But in my opinion it´s not good to drive to slowly, even if it helps the gunner. On every BTB map you can find plasmapistols, nades, rocket launcher/sniper/plasmalauncher and idiots trying to hijack or spam DMR at me.

I think its better that the gunner gets some less kills but instead not being killed by a Sniper.

But it happens to often that the gunner overheats the gun.

Aww come on, it was funny at least!
