While watching the walk through for meltdown, I couldn’t help but draw many similarities between it and the halo pc map ice fields. Not just with how the bridge is set up as the centerpiece, but also some of how the map is set up to flow, with the ledges leading off from the bridges and the landscape below the light bridge, among other places.
I’m not going to go out and say its a remake or a spiritual successor of any sort, but I think it’s possible some inspiration could have been found for meltdown in icefields, along with some elements from other PC maps. I just couldn’t help but see some similarities there. Anybody else get that vibe?
Yeah I got that feeling. I will be honest though, I wasn’t too blown away by the layout of the map. Two circles clumped together seems like a rather simplistic design. Who knows though, maybe when I play the map it will change my mind.
Just Infinity. The ice has nothing to do with it since we have two ice type maps in Halo 4. Longbow and Meltdown. Longbow looks more like Death Island. Meltdown looks like Infinity but both are smaller. If you want this map to be an Infinty feel to it, just put Banshees since IGN interviewed the guy and he has said ‘no Banshees’ in the map.
That’s exactly what I though op. To be honest though, I don’t really like the H4 maps. Definitely a step up from the maps reach were shipped with, but I still don’t like them. I wan’t some maps like Guardian/Locket where the map is wrapped around top mid, letting you put shots on or help your teamates from anywhere.
