The more I’ve played Halo 5 (and I love it btw, I’m not hated just some constructive criticism) I’ve noticed that melee mechanics are a little off. Specifically when you jump, there is a noticeable lag from when you press the melee button on your controller and when your spartan on screen performs the melee. Test it out, very easy. Delay in air as opposed to normal ground melee, instant feedback on screen
Another thing that should be fixed is when you are either getting Spartan Charged or Lunged at with a sword (One in the same really since they lock on and lunge) you should be able to do damage when meleeing them as you’re getting hit by either. This is currently not the case and it’s not game breaking by any means but many times (mostly in warzone) someone sprints at you with a sword and you in no way have any time to land a perfect shot with anything in time so you melee but you die and they take no damage, even if they are one shot, they live. Exact same situation with the Spartan Charge. I feel you should do melee damage if timed right against both and even kill the opposing player if they have low enough shields, kinda like a double melee, except melee vs sword or melee spartan charge.
I was thinking being able to melee a spartan charge and both knock each others shields off would make those 1v1 battles a lot more competitive and you’d actually have a shot of not dying unlike now, where you have 0% change of winning a 1v1 if someone Spartan Charges you
I notice that when I get SC’ed, my melee that I throw when they hit me does nothing, but when I SC they lunge at me from crazy far away and hit me too.
Personally, I’d rather SC be removed from the game. It’s rather cheesey. If you are running then you shouldn’t have any offensive options.
I assume that the delay is there becuase of ground pound. I would personally like to see the shoulder charge range decreased, and the normal melee lunge decreased too.

Sorry to rain on your parade bro but that simply isn’t true. I use the sword a lot in Warzone it’s always been one of my favorite weapons. And I can tell you that whenever I slice someone head on by lunging him, about 50% of the time I end up no shields cause I got melee’d somehow. And I actually don’t like it. Didn’t use to be that way. So pretty much what you want is working in this game right now but didn’t really before like in H3. Just get the timing down.

Yep. It definitely wasn’t in the beta before they moved the ground pound to melee. Not sure why Ground Pound introduces a delay, while assassination (which triggers basically the same way) doesn’t. I would assume it is unintentional and should be fixed.
As for lunge, I would like to see melee lung pretty much completely eliminated from everything but the melee weapons. CE’s melee system was far more interesting and less forgiving. I don’t need to lunch forward 5 feet to feel better about myself. Spartan charge is mostly fine aside from the goofy assisted lunge that seems to track miles out of the way at times.

I don’t want the Halo 3 sword vs Melee because that was a nightmare. You could block a sword lunge with a melee and not die, just awful XD. Only huge gripe about Halo 3
Dude that was Reach. Sword was unblockable in both H2/H3. In H2 you pretty much just teleported at 'em.
Edit: In H3 you could block a lunge with a sword melee but not a regular melee. It was dumb enough that sometime a guy with a mauler had time to shoot-beatdown you for the simultaneous…
