Melee Weapon Techniques.

Would it be fun or a good idea to have different stances and ways to use the melee weapons?

  • -Like with an energy sword you can perform lung attacks like Halo 2. Maybe a crouch upper cut move as well.

  • -Or with a gravity hammer, you can perform a spin move making anything it hits go flying with the cost of being slow and vulnerable.

Please give me your thoughts and ideas on different Weapon Techniques.

As more of a classic fan that prefers basics, I speak for a ton of people when I say you bring in more elements to it, it’ll divide the fanbase even more

BUT

If I had to choose something, I’d choose for them to bring the spikers back and have some crazy melee trick with the blades like a crazy assassination or something(one that takes no more than a few seconds of course)

It’s halo bro. What can be added to the game is extremely held back by It’s fan base because of what halo is “supposed to be”

I love competitive halo…but the ideas you’re tossing in…I mean essentially…as an example…you pick up gravity hammer…it has a usage gage. 10 swings and it no longer has it’s full power. Same with a sword. What “if”…you could hold down the melee button and your spartan performs an advanced melee costing half the bar equal to 5 swings…the full bar if its OP…to where your spartan swings around the hammer…resulting in AOE damage…most likely kills to close enemies…and…the added benefit of damage mitigation or deflection of incoming fire arms. It’s balanced by you spinning like a dummy possibly at the wrong time and the entire enemy team just waiting for you to stop to insta melt you.

Sounds cool. It’s halo tho bro. Wth r u thinking!? Haven’t you heard yet? Can’t you get it through that thick stubborn skull of yours? We want H A L O 3…POINT …F I V E…

All joking aside…I mean…it would be cool to have a game that had halos combat…take on some cool interesting ideas…but it will never happen. Let’s just enjoy what we got coming and keep the basics intact.

I am probably more open minded than most people when it comes to changes to Halo. However, I am totally opposed to this. The reason is primarily technical. Halo currently has a very rudimentary melee combat system. I can punch dudes, I can assassinate if I am behind them. That’s pretty much it. Two special weapons have special smack.

We start adding stances and such and you have to hope you can balance it all. Then people want more stances and more melee weapons. It’s a can of worms and while I could see it being cool I don’t see it as worth the risk. It’s kinda like I like a lot of the shooter mechanics in R6S but I know introducing them in a way that feels balanced and still fits the gameplay feel of Halo is damn near impossible.
