Melee Power

I haven’t found an answer to this: “How many melee attacks does it hit to kill?”

Is it the 2 hit kill like Reach? Or 3 or 4?

Thank you

Two, my friend.

Back to 2 with bleedthrough. Really wish it was 3 or 4.

My idea was stupid as I started to think about it.

Haha, oh no. I asked due to me always getting rushed and two hit punched in Reach.

Well, I gotta get better at it then.

Thanks for the responses.

Yes but now if they try to rush you you can shoot them and slow them down! Also ARs are much stronger at close quarters.

IT’S OVER 9000! No, it’s still two.

2 is complete BS. The double bash just really irks me. You can shoot someone in the face 4 times and still have to bash twice but they just have to bash twice. And they usually lunge with the second bash which is also BS.

There’s melee bleedthrough like in Halo 3 though.

It’s 2 with Bleedthrough, but I don’t think as much as Halo 3 had, I think they are going from 70 (Halo 3), to 60, which is alot better. But I’d like Melee damage to be 40 IMO. Which would be a 3 hit kill, Dealing 40 points to the shield in the first hit, then 20 to shield, bleedthrough 20 to health in the second. Then the last bit of 20 health to finish them off. (20 leftover).

This would make it so that IF you drained a players shield, 1 hit would guarantee a kill. If you DON’T drain a players shield, but have dome some damage, you know you are still at least 2 hits from the kill.

It also means that guy that tries to sprint up to you for a Melee kill without shooting you first (like is oh-so-common in Reach), will have to Melee you 3 times to kill you, while you, having probably put 2 shots into him, will only have to melee him twice, securing that you win.

Ah, nice variety of tactics now.

I agree with you.

what is this again ?

Bleed through balances it at two. Now if someone charges you, you shoto them a bunch, when they get in range, you both melee eachother. Then you just shoot them a little bit to finish them off.

The problem in reach was, with no bleed through, unless you popped their shields, any damage you did BEFORE the melee was useless. So theyd charge you, youd drop like 80% of their shields, youd both punch each other, and suddenly its tied. All your initial bullets were wasted.

Could someone remind me how bleed through works and I should approach it in Halo 4?

I could be wrong.

But in previous Halos before Reach, melee damage would carry through shields.

Basically, lets say you have 100 total health, 50 shields, 50 health…

If I shot you for 20 damage, then melee’d you for 50 damage, with bleed through youd be down to 30 health.

In reach, which didnt have bleed through, no damage would carry through sheilds.

So in that same scenario, you would end up with 50 health left. Basically all the bullets you fired before the melee would be useless.

This is what led to so many double melee kills in reach. Because you could charge someone, and as long as they didnt pop your shields, youd have the advantage when you meleed, because now theyd melee back, but youd both be at the same health, and since you hit first, you win.

With bleed through, if you charge, and then exchange melee, they can just jump back and be confident they can put a few more bullets in you to finish you off. Thats how it was in previous halos, reach changed that.

There’s a lot less lunge by the looks of it.

I just hope we don’t get enemies like infection forms, which were absurdly difficult to melee in Halo 2/3.

Big melee range + weak melee exchanged for small melee range + big lunge + strong melee (you could beat down shielded Elites in Halo 2, beat down unshielded Chieftains in Halo 3, and it only took 4-5 melees to take down a Reach Elite Major’s shield).

It was a horrible trade off.

This. This is why the melee in the game will be balanced.

1 arrow to the knee XD

It should be 3 melees to kill. Melees aren’t a weapon in their own right, they’re supposed to be a supplement. Halo 3 and onwards really messed up melee strength -_-
