Does anybody else think that the melee should take two hits to take out shields and a third to kill. I feel that it’s unfair how someone using their weapon AND melees still dies when someone else DOESN’T shoot their weapon but melees only twice. I know it would slow down the game, but 343i made Halo 4 look too fast paced. I think Halo 4 could use the slow down. But still keep the one hit assassination of course.
Agreed. Halo CE and Halo 2 had 3 hits to kill. Never understood what the hell Bungie was thinking in Halo 3 : /
I know it could be done in customs, but I would still like to see it in Matchmaking.
Dont want to make the melee pointless and too long to kill
ehh i like the way it was done in H3
Looks like you can side and front tackle into a assassination animation from the E3 footage as well. I can hardly wait for the complaint threads when those start happening. Now if the Ai can do that as well… -Yoink- me.
> Dont want to make the melee pointless and too long to kill
But it wouldn’t be pointless. if the opponent has no shields, then it’s one melee. you could still partially shoot someone and do two melees to kill like it is in reach now. three melees to kill would require a bit more strategy over the typical run and bash.

No, if that happens, you are not using your weapon enough. Shoot more, and then beat down (You will kill the opponent trying to beat you down twice, 99% of the times). What written by you, is a common mistake made by beginners.
There’s currently a debate on whether bleedthrough or non-bleedthrough is better. Regardless, both sides seem to agree that reducing melee damage down to 50% or 75%, to make it a 3 melee only hit kill, is a viable and preferred option.

That’s the point I’m making. Someone that shoots and melees afterwards still die from a someone only meleeing. I assume you speak in an experienced sense, but it has flaws.

Loved H1 and 2 but I honestly just felt it was more solid in H3 and Reach when bleedthrough is on, just my opinion though.

If you actually get the first shot on the opponent and he starts hitting you after a little bit of time, don’t hit back. Shoot a little bit more, and then melee. Then the guy who actually is shooting and using his weapon, won’t die. At least it’s like that in Halo 3 (I have played 30,000 games, and I speak in experienced sence). I don’t have enough experience in Reach to tell if it is the same or not.

I just believe it needs to be 3-hit melee. there’s nothing wrong with bleedthrough, but I would want 3-hit melee.

Well yeah, i knew that back in H3. but halo reach is different, you could shoot them at half sheilds and still be 2 melees. i was comparing from most current Halo to make improvements from the previous.

There’s plenty wrong with bleedthrough. But the that’s not the issue, the real issue is getting a 3-hit melee settings in.

Again, remember that Halo 4, is using the same Health-system as in Halo 3 (Shield-system).

all halos have been shield and health, halo 2 and 3 had hidden health because it recharged while CE and reach had visible health because it doesn’t recharge.
on topic, yes, melee should be 3 hit kill, 2 hit kill is overpowered especially with sprint, reach clearly demonstrates this.

In Halo 4 you will slow down - If getting shot, also; I know that the Spartans in Halo 3 have a regenerating health + shield, I just don’t really think of the health, as health. It’s more or less a part of the shield, since it is recharging on equal lines with the shield.
i disagree with this whole thread and i shall not return
Yes I agree.
