Melee detections?

Please 343 return Halo 4 to make the player actually aim and time their melee to connect with their enemy. Also please return skill to melee by reintroducing the important strafe dodging of melee’s too.

I’ve been trying to see how the melee hit detection is done in Halo 4, from the limited gameplay videos we have now, but I’m not able to decipher if it’s the same as Reach or Halo 3 or Halo 2.

In Reach the hit detection was far far too easy. I’ve moved out of the way, strafed and even jumped to lower levels only to find the enemy lands a melee hit for the kill and even stays on the platform above. I’ve also seen enemies melee through windows I’ve jumped through but they never jumped and crouched to “reach through” and connect that melee.

I hope Halo 4 brings back strafing or circle strafing to dodge melee’s. Halo 2 was the best in terms of melee dodging but the netcode for beat downs was terrible. Halo 3’s netcode and bleed through after some updates was great but then strafe dodging of melee’s and sword lunges disappeared. Currently in Reach the netcode is the beet but it seems has reverted back to no bleed through and no dodging of melee’s at all.

Reach practically got rid of strafing, or put way too much aim assist.

Anyone notice in the vi-doc it shows where you are getting fired from? There is a Hit detection indicator. (haven’t seen any threads about this yet).

That’s been in Halo since CE…

I know Reach really screwed the proverbial pooch with melee basically always connecting. I’ve had to try crazy stuff like sprint on angle to avoid melee in disadvantageous situations.

As for the indicator about where you’re getting hit from I saw that too and it’s definitely an upgrade from Reach and previous Halo’s. If I remember correctly we used to get a left and right indicator for incoming fire and that is it.

However if that double red arrow is in fact an incoming fire indicator I’d rather see it reduced down by at least 50%-60%. It is far too big right now.

No one has comments on melee for Halo 4?

Too early to tell.

Why not post about what we want for melee with Halo 4? I know my OP was on the money in terms of what I want after all these years with Halo FPS games.

Yes I have been noticing the aim assist when you turn rapidly is far too great. You can literally just spin around and melee or DMR that first reply shot with hardly aiming.
