Melee Animations (Frontal Assassinations)

So, If 343 can fix the issues people have had with Assassinations (pressing the melee button for a beatdown and getting an assassination or vice versa), I wouldn’t mind being able to hold down my melee button while facing someone to get a cool little animation. Basically an assassination from the front, but it would only work if the opponent’s shields were down.

Like i said before, the issues would have to be fixed so we wouldn’t have people trying to just get a melee kill and having to watch an animation. If it worked like it should, though, I think it would be kind of cool. Obviously, it wouldn’t be implemented in Halo 4, but possibly in Halo 5. Thoughts?

I think this could be a good idea, but (like you said) it should only be done with shields down. This brings up the question about simultaneous melees, though. What if both shields are down? Should there be a counter melee system like we’re seeing w/ BF4? I’d argue no, I’d say it should only be done when one has shields and the other does not. Similarly, these melee assassinations should only work if they have absolutely no shields, not just low enough shields that a melee would kill them.

Sounds game breaking to me. I love assassinations, but if they’re too frequent, you start to pay the price due to the time the animation takes. By allowing frontal assassination, even only when their shields are down, this becomes a much larger issue.

You know how assassinations from behind became the “New -Yoink!-”?

MULTIPLY GAMER RAGE FOR ME BY A THOUSAND FOR THIS.

The whole point of an assassination is that it’s a surprise attack.

Assassinating someone that can see you in front of them kinda breaks the definition of the word.

Then again, the definition of “Assassination” seems to always refer to the surprise killing of a political figure.

Not much of that going on in Halo.

This is why they would be optional.

Also, they wouldn’t really be “assassinations” as they are not from behind. They would basically just be melee kill animations that are once again, OPTIONAL.

Thats a cool idea. I hate getting assassinated though. I only get assassinated once or twice a month if I get assassinated at all.
