MegaConstrux OFFICIAL Inifite Sets [SPOILERS]

MegaConstrux has revealed a TON of new Inifinite sets, including some that have made there way online in the previous months. These sets contain HUGE story and gameplay implications for Inifinite, but we should be aware that they are not representative of the final game.

There’s a plethora of new weapons, vehicles, and armors to discuss now that they’ve been officially revealed. What do y’all think? What’s your favorites?

And please note that there are other sets on the site based off of old games, so be sure to check the name of the set before jumping to conclusions. Anyways, let’s discuss!

[Potentially MASSIVE SPOILER that I didn’t want to put in main post]

Just to get the ball rolling, check out the “Defense Point Showdown” set and look at the shoulder piece of the Brute figure…

They really just… yeah…

…I think that shows 343 is listening to fans very closely lol.

This for me is a huge problem is so many ways:

  • First this is a potential spoiler of the fate of an important character in the game and we should never get this information through Megablox Toys before we have any idea of what Halo Infinite is about! - If Locke doesn’t dies, he probably got injured by this brute named Hyperion, which justifies him taking Locke’s helmet as a trophy. Which means Locke will probably stay away from the screen when instead he should be active and getting actual character development and meaning to finally be the relentless, the hunter and the rival to the Chief we expect him to be. - If Locke actually dies this is the worst case scenario, meaning 343 Industries has given up of another potential character and again making the very same mistake to kill off characters or throwing them to the side. Given the backlash Locke had received after Halo 5 and 343 catering to this people just shows they have no idea what to do and their decision making is based of reddit just like some of the directors responsible for the destruction of Star Wars saga. We already know this is a terrible idea in every way possible.

I really hope they don’t kill him offscreen, even though I’m not a huge fan of the character it just seems like 343 over-correcting their “mistakes” from H5.

Having said that, I think it could work if they kill him off mid-game after he has some sort of character development. But since this is being revealed as a toy my guess is that something happens prior to the game, or maybe early on in the first few missions (like how they killed Jul M’Dama in H5, which I’m still salty about)

I am actually surprised to see anything relating to Locke. I guess we certainly don’t know until release how “hard” or “soft” this spiritual reboot is going to be.

Personally as a huge lore fan who is heavily invested at this point, I am happy to see them continuing past plot threads in Infinite.

1: Agreed! This is probably partly due to having to reschedule the reveal of the game but MegaBlox is just a partner. They should be last in line to actually show stuff.

2/3: These sets suggest waaaaaaaay too much of the story to be shown as of now. Agreed on that. However… Locke and most of Osiris are like Towely. Remember Towely from South Park? He was the most pointless character ever. I won’t miss Locke. I won’t miss any Spartan IV to be honest. Yes, pandering to fan service is a bad thing. It destroyed the Sequel Trilogy, agreed on that. But just wait and see what happens in the game before you draw the conclusion that Locke is killed off screen, unceremoniously or is just thrown away because of fans.
Then again, like I said…I’m fine with Locke being killed along the way.

Overall this feels like a let down. Wish we had the game footage before this.

Beyond that set, there’s tons of other cool stuff. Of course, it’s dumb that we’re finding out through toy sets, but it’s cool nonetheless!

For instance, the Brute Skiff looks like an awesome new vehicle. From the name I thought it might give credibility to the Water Combat rumors, but it looks to be a land-based hover-craft type of thing. It almost appears similar to the Prowler and the Covenant Shadow with its multiple seats, turrets, and a platform for other infantry.

I don’t know. Microsoft gave Megablox the greenlight to reveal this, but why? I might be exaggerating here, mostly because we are just speculating and it is understandable you not liking Locke. What I can’t stand is the potential wasted and if Locke goes away this is another “what could have been” of his character and many other plot points set by 343 and suddenly dropped or never seen the light of the day.

So um…yeah. I’m honestly surprised these are officially released. I’m kind of mad at Mega Construx, but in an alternate reality they would have been shown after E3 so I suppose timing wise it would have worked out.

But this is bigger than showing John’s Armor prior to Halo 4’s reveal. they’re revealing the name and appearance of the brute from the transmission. That in itself isn’t too bad as we had the transmission trailer, but attached on his armor a huge spoiler!

I Think they could have waited till after the Xbox showcase at the end of the month to show these.

That said, I’m happy from what I’ve seen so far. I really like the Banished brute armor. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s noticed a distinct lack of any Promethean/created enemies so far. Hummm… spiritual reboot indeed.

edit: Also on the new Brute Leader, behind Lockes helmet is a piece of metal protruding out the back of his armor: to me this resembles a jump jet pack like the Brutes had in H3.

I’m absolutely baffled by this being shown before the actual reveal of the game. Why show a potential plot point? Then again, this is the age of movie trailers showing entire movies…

I feel they will just give Locke a little bit of character development in a few missions and then he might be killed off. He’s not a fan favorite to put it mildly. 343i knows that, but Locke is their Arbiter/Johnson. They won’t kill him too easily. Maybe we’ll play with him as a tutorial level ending with his death. That would work for a lot of fans I guess

I actually dont agree with lock dying being a bad thing. There just is a good way and a bad way to do it. The bad way is to pul a Jul and have it happen right away. The good way is to build locke up with some actual character and then have it happen 2/3ds to the end of the game

how is locke their arbiter/johnson? he’s not likable like johnson, he lacks any real importance like arbiter. he’s just a side character people got to play as and disliked immensely

I am sorta mixed on the reveal of these sets.

First I wanna talk about what I love, I really like the designs of the brutes, feels like a nice in-between for the Banished in HW2 and the Brutes in H3. I also really like the MK VII armor, the weapons look really cool, the marines feel like a combo of Halo CE and Reach, and the sets look pretty cool too.

What I don’t like is the heavy focus on Reach armor, feels a little lazy to just bring back the Reach stuff instead of having new stuff but it could be 343 holding new armors close to the chest and they are only giving out familiar armors so idk. I also kinda don’t like that it seems like Prometheans are just gone now since they is now no trace of them in the new sets, I would have rather seen them expanded on instead of ditched.

Still, I’m really looking forward to Infinite’s reveal now since we have a nugget of story with this new brute “Hyperius” and the trophy of Locke’s helmet he has (I don’t think Locke is dead, I think he beat him and claimed his helm as a trophy but I could be wrong)

> how is locke their arbiter/johnson? he’s not likable like johnson, he lacks any real importance like arbiter. he’s just a side character people got to play as and disliked immensely

The real problem with Locke for me was that they put all his characterization in multiple separate external sources then expected everyone to automatically know his whole story when they went into 5, so he came off as fairly bland. The other problem of course, being the lopsided play count. If it was 50/50 on Blue Team and Osiris and if they provided a bit of “recap” on him/tanaka/etc instead of assuming everyone already knew about it, then I can imagine the dislike would have been a lot lower. Not been entriely gone no, but would have been lower.

What’s concerning me is less Locke and Palmer’s fate in Infinite, but more of what this means for their writing moving forward. If their way of dealing with fans saying “I don’t like this character” is going to be “Okay let’s just kill them off then!” that’s… Worrying. Instead of taking time to better write a character and develop them in more than just external material (Or being able to “remind” us about this development, as a catching up for people who did read it and as a summary for those who didn’t) they’ll just take the easy way out and just bump them off?

I’d rather a less-liked character just be regulated to the books and stuff where other writers can take their shot with them rather than just writing them off entirely. Let’s all remember that the Arbiter wasn’t exactly received well at first either, and look at him now. Characters CAN be improved if the writers put the effort into it. One could look at the potential offing of these two characters as the writers having given up on the community ever accepting them (And of course, disappointing the people who did like them and/or were hoping they’d be better characterized later on).

That’s just my view on it all though, and assuming they are indeed planning on removing these characters from the board “to please the fans” instead of trying to improve their image or just putting them in the books.

I think killing Locke is bad in both cases, even if 343 manages to give him some personality in Halo Infinite, because makes all the effort worthless and because it retroactively makes Halo 5’s campaign worse and I thought it couldn’t get any worse than that, because it diminishes the significance and relevance of it, knowing that the main character of the game dies in the next chapter.
The only way to fix Locke is to have him in Halo Infinite alive and actively doing something.

feels like they’re just giving them random weapons, brohammer is holding a gun they use for COD sets, and a few others are holding weapons that have been in the mega construx line for years now, and reusing sculpts, so it’s hard to really tell what’s concrete in these.

What I can’t stand is the potential wasted and if Locke goes away this is another “what could have been” of his character and many other plot points set by 343 and suddenly dropped or never seen the light of the day.

He’s not a fan favorite to put it mildly. 343i knows that, but Locke is their Arbiter/Johnson. They won’t kill him too easily. Maybe we’ll play with him as a tutorial level ending with his death. That would work for a lot of fans I guess

I mean in the sense that they probably feel like Locke is the most important secondary (in their eyes maybe even primary) character they’ve introduced. Kind of what Bungie did with Arby. They got a lot of backlash for that and then they made him far less important in H3…but they didn’t kill him.

Don’t forget that Arbiter wasn’t liked that much back in the days as he is now.

Looks like the armour is primarily Halo Reach and Halo 3 inspired bulked up with the ergonomic concepts of Halo 4/5 armour.

Atriox crushed Douglas’ helmet and didn’t kill him, this could be the same thing. E3 or not, 343 had to approve the picture release and I really doubt they’d let this massive spoiler out either in toys or in the game presentation.

It also seems the weapon MC is holding in the same set is a redesigned Rail Gun
