I’m seeing a lot of individual threads out there talking about individual changes that need to be made. So I decided to make a mega list. I’ll try to update as people add things below. Please read first to avoid re-posting. Also I AM NOT ADDRESSING THE AIMING ISSUE! that is an entire thread in itself. This is purely multiplayer mechanics. If you disagree please state which and why and I would like to discuss/ possibly update. italics are items which 343 has either announced they are changing or has announced is in work.
Spawning
fix spawn points. spawning to insta death happens WAY too often ESPECIALLY IN SWAT. Maybe have them better hidden. Some are good but others are just in the middle of nowhere. SWAT specifically introduce spawn delay if no safe spawns available. - fix spawn disable inside of bases on warzone while being captured. PERIOD. Seriously it’s incredibly frustrating holding down a base only to have someone spawn behind you or multiple around you in the base/armory. - Warzone specific-while base is being captured players spawn outside of base, however sometimes this is not even close to the base. Spire for example sometimes spawns all the way down at the beach while being captured. - include the upper level of armory in the base capture. seriously why is the top level of the armories (just above the roof) not included in the base capture zone? That’s a big loss of capture points for keeping a look out. also it’s way to easy for people to hide up there while the base is captured only to jump down the second the attackers leave. - warzone specific, - if all capture points are taken by the other team NEVER SPAWN OUTSIDE OF HOME BASE! this is become a huge issue with the fact you can never get a spawn point that isn’t an insta kill for the other team. this by itself is one of the contributing factors to the constant downfalls in escape from A.R.C.Weapons
increase the damage (slightly) for the base fuel rod. If not using the upgraded variant this weapon is pathetically ineffective at applying damage on pretty much everything short of a direct hit. Redacted It’s fine considering the upgraded one is pretty lethal.
slight decrease to assault riffles effective range. missing a single pistol/ BR shot loses battles far too often at mid range. another option is decreased aim assist with AR. over distance. - slight decrease to smg effective range. but increase to damage at very short range. This would further exemplify the weapons from short, medium, long. - decrease head shot bullet magnetism of sniper rifles. these guns are silly easy now. - increase weapon clearing timer!!! why do my power weapons disappear the second i respawn if nobody picks them up?!! - increase hydra target acquisition and shot speed - reduce grenade bounce. Jesus are we chucking ping pong balls?! - Slight reduction to the aim-assist of the Railgun.WARZONE Specific
make all boss enemies appear on overview anywhere on map. Far too often people have no idea where the enemies are. - kill credit on bosses goes to the team which dealt the most damage. Final shot is irrelevant. I don’t care what you say, in competitive matches it is not possible to secure an area from sniper boss kill leaches. If you don’t realize this you are ignorant to the advanced players who take advantage of every exploit they can. - split boss kill credit among top 3 contributors of winning team. - remove individual credit for killing initial enemies at bases/armory other than central base boss. This has now become a huge fight to kill things before everyone else can. - While funny at first sight. If you’re going to have the marines shoot the dead bodies make it one or two shots not a whole clip. Sometimes people think there is someone attacking when it’s really the marines turning a body into mush. - Refund REQ cards for weapons/ vehicles if player is still alive with it at end of match.General gameplay
increase motion sensor back to 25 m as in previous halo games (at least 22!) - limit the amount of aesthetic permanent unlocks to 1 per gold req pack unless there are no weapon/vehicle unlocks left are left. nobody likes opening a gold with 2 armor/emblem unlocks… - reduce ground pound hold time. it is possible to hang in air far too long and wait for the perfect opportunity. - increase required sprint distance to shoulder charge - Give option to show people in your fireteam on the HUD in a green and enable the indicated at ANY range so you always know where your friends are at. - Increase range drastically for icons to show over friendly players. This is annoying because at range sometimes you can’t tell who is who. Could be limited to only line of sight to prevent clutter. - reduce the time for the server/host to receive kill shot information. This is the reason there is so many double kills where two people kill each other. Some of these are just ridiculous.Arena specific
Possibly replace Carbines and DMRs on Regret map with BRs. REDACTING after playing more I don’t agree with this but some want it. - Investigate reducing Free for All from 8 players to 6. - Rig needs the spawn points changed because the team that spawns Catwalks/Red Nest has a huge advantage. - Introduce a “forfeit” option on death screen if teammate leaves game OR if one team is loosing by more than 2x once either team has hit the 1/2 way mark. This is needed in arena as most do not want to play an unbalanced game. Make unanimous decision requirement that displays to teammates. (think of the vote to kick option of old…)Gametypes
Remove Breakout from Team Arena and from the HCS. There is already an entire game type dedicated to it. - Create a BR start Team Arena variant. Pro-slayer possibly? BR, Pistol start, no motion sensor, one grenade start. - Add a Ranked Team Doubles and Ranked Team Objective
Had to move vehicles because the first post hit max character limit again. Vehicles have some of the most broken mechanics in the game anyway so lots of fixes. Most of these are tied into competitive team approaches to vehicles since the req energy for the best anti vehicle utilities are far less than the vehicles themselves. I think Josh Holmes hates vehicles.
Vehicles
fix friendly boarding into tanks. Why is this so difficult? - fix boarding enemy tanks from the front. other than from behind boarding tanks is a serious PITA. You can be standing on them but not be given the option to board. sometimes you jump in the turret. - allow the scorpion turret to aim down at people approaching. why do you hate this vehicle. Approaching from the rear they basically are untouchable unless 50 ft away. - reduce radius to board tanks from the rear. holy crap people seem to be magnetically clung to the rear of tanks. - reintroduce the melee prior to planting a grenade. Why was this taken out? Most the times you are boarded your teammates have no chance to help you now. - fix the scorpion machine gun turret to kill boarders. if the attacker boards from the left side they can be shot off by the machine gun turret, but if they board from the right the turret goes through them doing nothing… why was this not caught in testing?? this is not an issue on the wraith. - increase scorpion movement speed. Why did you give everyone these abilities to sprint, boost, cloak, SPEEDBOOST UPGRADE, at will but then lowered the tank speed to basically walking speed? - look at scorpion controls when moving out of strait line. Sometimes the scorpion gets stuck and it’s a serious PITA to get the front to rotate right. - lower the angle the warthog can fire at. It is becoming all too common now for ghost to just race point blank on a warthog so they can’t hit them anymore. - increase ghost req energy requirement by 1. With skilled teams this is exploited to the extreme with half the team in ghosts the second they can get them. - increase scorpion shot speed slightly. - significantly decrease ghost weapon effectiveness over range. - reduce the damage of the ultra ghost and it’s camera shake (this thing is so ridiculously OP it’s not even arguable) - Give players the choice to spawn vehicles at either home base or forward base from menu (on maps applicable). This is a serious issue on escape from A.R.C. Where owning the garage is a problem for spawning any vehicles as spawning at base requires spawn, then running to nearest station. - Give tanks a motion sensor which can detect cloaked enemies for warzone. This has never been a problem with previous halo’s but now people can call in cloaks whenever they want. As a result, with competitive teams, the second a tank is on the field you can guarantee someone if not multiple are grabbing cloaks because the camera system for tanks makes it pretty much impossible to see them. - This is going to be a controversial topic I’m adding but remove the ability to board vehicles while using a thruster pack and for 1/2 second after using it. This is due to a common trend developing among competitive players which has rendered vehicles almost useless in high competition game. I’ve now seen warthogs boarded flipping through the air, banshees ghost and wraiths boarded at full boost, seriously why do you hate vehicles so much… - Put a hard block on the banshee placing it’s nose on the scorpion so that the turret passes through the banshee. (essentially making it untouchable by the gun) - Fix warthog turret aiming. Very hard at times to get small precision aiming. This might be because the warthogs feel more similar to the traditional aiming controls?? - Wheelman medals should count as assists and definitely give more req points in warzone. Currently a god driver could go half a game giving his gunner perfect positions and his gunner would easily rise to a top 3 position on the team. Meanwhile the driver would never climb above the lowest scoring player on the team. - Vehicle spawns underground sometimes get stuck with no way to get out.Map Design
Escape from A.R.C. is a horribly designed map. Owning the garage is so highly coveted that it is easy to win solely owning that base. The hunters, promethean knights, knight dignantary, and warden eternal can all be snipe shot from inside or directly on top of the garage. Also It is far to easy for teams to steam roll one or the other into their base with almost no way to push back. Recommend putting barriers blocking certain bosses so that garage isn’t so much an automatic “win” structure. -
NON GAME PLAY CHANGES
Hit character limit. I therefore moved none game play related to this section here. Menu interface
fix the issue with fireteams not being able to talk to each other - make something more obvious to tell you are even in a fire team - put the ability to view armors and tags back into the pregame menu. - correctly display who is talking in game player list (sometimes you can hear someone talking but when you bring up the player list nobody has a mic activated) - don’t kick to menu when accepting a fireteam invite from someone IN THE GAME YOU JUST PLAYED (why was this even an issue now? you’ve been able to do this since halo 2) - give alert to people when someone joins your fire team - let people in game know someone is waiting for them in a fireteam post match - Backing out of a playlist’s search que should take you back to the playlist selection menu not the main menu. - Add a favorites list for the different types of customization REQs - Stack armors that are just skin variants. Why do they all need their own spot! - Show top medals/MVP in the post game stats. - The in-game roster or friends list should provide a lot of information; game they are in, fireteam members, (warzone) if they are joinable, TIME OR SCORE LEFT IN GAME!! - Give the ability to sell multiple req cards of the same type. - Add a display in the Collections Menu that shows the Required REQ level to use the highlighted item. - Special Orders Packs: Once you own a certification for a specific REQ, allow us to buy a special orders pack containing 5 - 10 cards for that REQ. The cost of the order depends on the rarity of the REQ.Theater
Don’t drop link to player while skipping chapters. Seriously annoying. If you skip chapters and you’re not ‘on field’ (read alive) at the time of the chapter break it just randomly puts the camera on someone. This then requires you to cycle through every person (ON BOTH SIDES!) until you can find yourself. Keep in mind since you can’t select yourself while in req system your character literally may not exist at the time. Just show the home base or something. - Camera zoom?? where did it go - Is it possible to implement the built in system recording into the game? If you don’t have a kinect you can only record 30 second segments. - ADD TIME STAMPS TO MOVIES! - Ensure FileShare comes with the Theater update in December.Spartan Companies
Allow invite/accept/request from IN GAME! - Put custom emblems on spartan’s (shoulder?) - Allow company abbreviation in name (like in previous games with clan tag…)
Good thing I reserved all these spots with bumps lol. Now i have expansion sections. Campaign
sometimes during campaign all language audio will get near muted. The only way to fix this is to leave campaign an reload it. - conversations with Warden are so quiet compared to the explosions going around they are basically inaudible. Even reducing music and SFX by 2 levels it is very hard to understand what they are saying. - return campaign scoring - display the bonuses each character gets (kelly = speed, tenaka = radar range, etc) - allow drop in drop out of single campaign if player has selected. - telling AI teammates to pick up power weapons is pretty much pointless as they will just continue to use their other starting weapon almost 100% of the time. - AI are stupid when boarding vehicles. Ex give command to ‘take that vehicle’ will result in team mate on warthog turret running over to drive vehicle instead of other AI team mates currently on foot.
I’ve never seen a forum that didn’t allow bumps. This is pretty much the only way (particularly on this forum) to get views if nobody comments in the first 5 minutes when new threads are being created on an almost minute by minute basis. But fine I will not ‘bump’.
This is my not bumping. By the way 343. in 60 seconds this thread was off the front page because of the amount of new threads being created. Thanks for allowing people’s threads to be viewed.

Alright moving entire thread over to the matchmaking… this is just absurd this last round this thread was on the front for a whole 20 seconds. 343 get a real forum developer to organize this crap. make a matchmaking, pve, etc column for each game not generalized. update keeping this going as suddenly people are seeing it again…
The kill recognition is messed up I get kills from Spartans and bosses with out ever damaging those enemies one bit.
I don’t really bother with normal warzone because I think every thing is randomized if I’m getting kills I didn’t earn whos to say it can tell the difference between teams killing bosses. I get more boss kills from not attacking the boss than when I do attack the boss.

It’s a slight nerf. At mid range AR is still shockingly effective.

Seen Spawn delay in other games … ‘Finding Spawn point’ etc…
