Describe your very first reaction/feeling when meeting the Flood. Then compare it to your reaction/feeling when meeting the Prometheans…if it’s not too much.
When I first meet The Flood, in H:CE, I got that creepy feeling…mainly from the theme setting, the atmosphere, how many rounds to pump into a Combat Form before it was “officially dead”, how the little bugger infection forms hopped and scurried towards you, and…The Library.
Prometheans was an overall “meh” feeling, they just felt like bigger Elites and more annoying with their ability of warping away when they almost dead.
The first time I saw the Flood I was on the verge of crapping my pants, peeking at the computer screen from behind the door frame.
The Prometheans got revealed before the game came out, which really killed their buildup. They didn’t even really have any buildup anyways, they just spontaneously appear without any drama or foreshadowing.
I first played the Flood during the mission High Charity or something like that. I just called them squid zombies and that was that. I also ran like heck from them as well.
I first saw the Prometheans during the E3 demo, that was a pretty cool reveal for them. That said, the game reveal was not as good as the E3 one to me.
I also had known Prometheans had existed before they were shown, which puts a bit of a dampener on the surprise factor.
There wasn’t buildup for Prometheans like there was for the Flood because:
A: The Flood were the new greatest threat in the galaxy that came out of nowhere.
B: The buildup in Halo 4 was for the Didact, not the Prometheans themselves.
If I didn’t see any trailers or anything before hand which spoiled the game (launch trailer showing Installation 03) they would of been amazing to see I loved how I knew what they sort of where though due to reading the books, Since Halo 2 was my first (and least favorite) Halo I didn’t experience 343 Guilty Spark like other people, so I was like “meh” when the Flood showed up, Now the Didact and Gravemind, I was surprised to see an intelligent flood form which just didn’t attack you but conversed at you. The Didact was pretty interesting since I’ve loved the Didact since Cryptum, I sort of called it when Halo 4 was revealed that Didact would show up, so I was pretty happy so see him
Do you think we’ll get the same creepy feeling if The Flood appears in H:5? Remember The Flood around The Ark were wiped out, but Installation 05 is still infested…and there are other Installations that may contain Flood specimens. Personally I hope they give that creepy feeling again, and that “fake death” they did in H:CE
The promethians were not meant to be creepy… I thought the Knights looked goofy but the storyline more than made up for that.

I thought Installation 05 was sterilized by the Elites post departure of High Charity? Installation 03, on the other hand…

It was. Installation 03 seems secure, researchers were able to go down and recover things, even the Activation Index. Now Installation 07…THAT is the one to watch.

Installation 07 would be an interesting setting, I wonder if the gas mine on threshold was researching the Flood as well as it has containers with the spores, would there be more facilities like that
My heart was pounding! I was so freaked out! I had heard from my friend that they were creepy as hell so I was kinda scared, then again, this was when I was 11. lol
When I first saw them, I wasn’t super scared of the little guys, but the big guys were freaky. Later on in the game, I got used to them and they simply became an annoyance when they stole my Covy kills!
lol

It’s a big galaxy.
This is pretty simple to answer.
The Flood were SCARY when I first met them. Even by Halo 3 they were no joke.
The Prometheans were not. I think them being revealed before the game came out kind of ruined any surprise. Even then, the Prometheans lack personality. Not like the Flood have it either, but the Flood were truly scary.
Watchers are a pain in the -Yoink-, but easy to take out. Same with Crawlers. Knights, meh, they were never really a challenge.
When I compare beating the games on Legendary, Flood were tougher than Prometheans.
I hope in Halo 5 there are new enemies. Either new classes of Prometheans or finally some rogue still living Forerunners. I was disappointed that we never REALLY got to fight the Didact. Sure there is that QTE at the end of the Campaign, but it’s not the same as having to have a strategy to take him down. Just hit some buttons at the correct time and he’s toast.
I suspect the Flood are going to make a return to Halo, could be they are an instrument of the Precursors, could be that the Gravemind is a Precursor. Whichever… Prometheans really need to amp it up in Halo 5. We essentially had to beat birds, dogs, and quirky hunchback beetles.
The Flood were infected Humans, Elites, and Brutes. Definitely scarier as they were abominations. Prometheans are to armor and “clean.” Nothing really says, “Be scared of me!”
The comparison is impossible because the Flood were a surprise; the Prometheans were marketed as hell.
I mixed the Installations up…but Installation 07 is one to watch. Also (Spoiler Alert if anyone did not read Silentium) did the Greater Ark get destroyed or was it “converted”?
Also it would be cool and scary if we got the Cut-Juggernaught(probably spelt that wrong) in H:5. Heard it took quite a few rockets in the H:2.

Pretty sure it was destroyed with omega halo
I was six years old, at my cousins place. They were playing the mission when the Chief finds Jenkins recording

I could live with a couple of Dead Space-esque missions for the Flood.
The worst design choice Bungie ever made for the Flood was making them vulnerable to melee attacks. It made them far too easy to deal with.
I just imagined this now! In Halo 5 you would have a mission to Installation 05, to look for something, like an artifact. Then in the course of the level you would hear strange growls. You would assume these as Prometheans. When the middle of the level goes, you have a cutscene. Chief hears the growls more louder and hears through a wall. As he listens, you hear the Flood theme get louder and louder. Then all of a sudden, a Flood tentacle appears! This breaks the wall and Infection Forms appear! Gameplay carries on as you are scared to death at the surprising cutscene and fighting your old nemesis…
If the promeathean knights were tougher to kill than two hammer brute chieftains then it would of been cooler and if they appeared when the didact awoke it would of been cooler
An elite would be at the control plinths defending it from MC screaming heresy grabbing onto his foot trying to claw him away from the console. The fact that the didact and all the promeatheans were all focusing purely on him would of made it better along with them appearing all around him
