I’ve put off Silentium so far, just in order to meet the author himself. Greg Bear was at Mysterious Galaxy bookstore in San Diego, where a small crown gathered to hear tidbits and his thoughts on the Halo universe as a whole, specifics about the book, 343 and some of his other works.
He noted that Silentium would his last efforts in the Halo universe.While the crowd was small, it was a mixed group of gamers and sci-fi bibliofiles.
I managed the first question, the only one I posed for the night, regarding the confusion of the 343 Guilty Spark destroyed at the end of Halo 3 and that which appeared In Halo:Primordium. While he did not answer the quesion directly, he did note that the Chakas/343 GS does appear in the book, alluding to some clarification on the confusing matter. I did get the feeling that he may not have completely understood my question.
