Now medals… I DONT EVEN NOTICE THEM! I don’t feel accompolished. Theres a medal for everything, and when they do pop up, I have NO idea what they are, and they only stay on screen for like half a second so i can’t tell what the fk is what. Even when the assist medal pops up in Reach, I know someone I was shootin was finished off and it felt good. Or the headshot medal! Now its just… words…
I once got 112 medals in a SINGLE GAME… SERIOUSLY??
Not to mention most important medals aren’t in this game. a lot have been left out.
I wholesomely agree. Although it’s not really a big issue, medals used to give me a small sense of pride, because they also reflected your style of gameplay. Now you get medals for a regular kill. Exciting…not. I liked it after finishing a game when the carnage report came up and they showed the top medals, and I could feel totally boss with my overkill, perfection, running riot, or even the number of headshot sniper medals i got. Medals really deteriorated in this game.
I think medal and kill descriptions need to stay up longer. It bugs me that most of the time when I die I don’t even have time to read who killed me. Medals are the same way. They’re gone before I can even see what they are. Maybe that’s just me, but I feel like the length they are shown should be like 1.5x as long or so.

Yeah, its a little lame. The medals that DO exist are pretty generic, just like a lot of things in this game (hint: Shoulder armor). Big, colorful medals in halo 3 were great. Multikills are still pretty satisfying, though.
I was sad when the Perfection medal was left out. I already got 3 Perfections but it didn’t feel as good as in Reach or Halo 3 where you get the medal and hear a voice yelling PERFECTION!
I agree. The medals don’t pop out on the screen quite as much either. It’s not a big issue, but it would be nice to have the medals emphasized a little more. Medals just don’t feel as important.
I was watching my brother play SWAT, he killed two players and 8 medals pop up! The screen can only display 4 medals at a time, the first four I didn’t even see.
its funny, because you get medals for everything, but at the same time you get medals for nothing.
i hate how the different spree medals are gone, and the stick medal. theres still a headshot medal, but not a sniper HS medal. theres a medal for holding the ball long enough and getting a tirple kill with it, but not for getting a killing spree with it.
i just dont understand it.
and whats with the medal tiers in the stats section, what fits in those? i have one in the onyx section but i have no idea what it is.
Yah… I miss the colorful medals that we used to get… Now they all are a shade of blue/grey and they took out sniper headshots! the stick medal for chief’s sake what have they done to my halo?!?
Every Halo game before H4 included it’s predecessor’s medals and added some new ones. H4 was the first to cut medals. There’s no power weapon sprees anymore. They should’ve at least added a medal for 11+ kills in succession or 45+5x kills in a row.
Agree 100% and what’s up with certain medals getting an announcement why does Headcase get said by the announcer? Just like a lot of things in this game, 343 changed just for the sake of changing it.
Don’t care for medals anymore there’s to many I don’t know what half of them are. How the hell can they take the Perfection medal out? makes no sense at all.
