Mechs in Halo?

Am I the only one that is slightly dismayed that 343 is putting mechs in the campaign. I understand that they want to enhance the halo experience by putting their own influences into it but really mechs. This is just my opinion but to me mechs are an eyesore, what could they possibly contribute to the gameplay that a scorpion or wraith couldnt also. oh well no use complaining about it now its in the game so whats your guys opinion.

Sorry, but it’s about time that Halo has a mech.

Mechs are futuristic, Halo is set 550 years in the future. Mechs make sense if you think about it.

I’ve never liked mechs, but oh well, the Mantis looks awesome, I really can’t wait to use it

It is futuristic so I would expect mechs. If they are done correctly I won’t mind them at all but sometimes they just seem kinda gimmicky. I’ll have to see more to give a better opinion.

I would be interested in more mechs in the halo franchise to be honest. I think 343 should take a look at Mech assault 2 for some inspiration for the future. Halo version of the Mad Cat maybe?

glad im not you

I dont mind them

This is the perfect thread to post my opinion on mechs.

Mechs are stupid, silly looking, and childish. They have been stupid and corny since the Matrix sequels. They look like little kids toys. Mechs are not MAN enough to deserve being in a Halo game. Mechs belong in Saturday morning cartoons and should remain there until the end of time.

So apparently the little tiny pink Ghosts are man enough to be in Halo? Riiiiight…

Ghosts seem original to me and I can live with the pink. I loves me some splatters.

I would have prefered if the the mech was more like an exo-squad style suit, but I have no problem with the concept of it in-game.

I don’t like the idea of mechs in Halo at all. I rarely use vehicles anyway, so I guess I’ll just be taking them out.

But don’t you think crushing someone with a 10 ton mech foot sounds better?

The mech looks pretty cool. Similar to the Cyclops in Halo Wars. I think it would be neat if Halo 5 has a HUGE multiplayer level, like on the size of a Battlefield multiplayer level (but hopefully with more players) and you could use the massive vehicle sandbox the Halo has to offer.

I hope I’m not the only one who thinks it would be cool to charge into battle with my fellow Spartans with a mech leading the charge, and vice versa imagine the satisfaction of coordinating with your teammates to take down a mech.

I lol’d

I agree. Mechs just don’t make sense when you think of them. Unless they can balance themselves subliminally like a human can. An exoskeleton like the Silverback in Gears makes MUCH more sense than the Mantis. But yes, bipedal vehicles are just stupid to me. I think they belong in Japanese games, not my western shooters.

I’ve wanted a mech since Halo Legends: Prototype.

I really like the way 343 is dealing with the fiction.

I’m a big fan of mecha, so the Mantis is a dream come true for me. Halo and mechs, together at last!

500 years in the future… I’m pretty sure we’d get them eventually. just look at avatar, they have it and its only about 200 years in the future. we’re 500 and we still fire bullets and use wheels. where are OUR hover cars?
