Hello Halo Players. In this forum I want to start a discussion about some things that I really hoped to see in infinite’s multiplayer before the game was launched. I want to preface this post by saying that I am of the small minority of people that actually really enjoyed halo 5’s multiplayer. I personally love FPS games that are fast paced, twitchy, and have a lot of traversal mechanics and equipment that allows for experimentation and variability in how players can move, fight and interact with the environment. This is why I also really enjoyed the titanfall games as well.
My hopes with halo infinite was that there would be more options for advanced movement. I know that most players do not like advanced movement mechanics but I think the current selection of equipment perfectly allows for experimentation, and for players to get crafty. The problem I have is that all the equipment items are pick ups. I would love to see a matchmaking playlist that allows players to spawn with their desired choice of equipment (except for overshield and camo). The equipment is so fun to use and just spices up the core game play. The core game play does get a little redundant after a while. You run, shoot, throw grenades, melee, and use an array of different weapons. Thats ultimately the same halo experience from past games. Halo reach, and halo 4 spiced things up with armor abilities. Halo 5 added thruster packs by default, and a few other mechanics that all players could experiment with. And infinite just has equipment that can only be attained by picking them up. Unfortunately most maps don’t have a lot of equipment spawns, and not every map has every equipment item on them. The traveral equipment like thrusters, and grapple allow for more wiggle room for players to get out of bad situations, or capitalize on opportune moments. The threat sensor and drop shield is good for overall team support. And the repuslor is just fantastic with so many big brain ways to use it.
I really want to see a playlist that allows players to spawn with any of the aforementioned equipment, because it would just make the game play more versatile, faster paced, and in my opinion more fun over all.
Lastly I would also like to see some changes to the drop shield and threat sensor that would allow for more variability in how they can be used. It would be cool if shooting an enemy with the threat detector could actually damage them. The drop shield is also kind of bad. It takes too long to deploy, and breaks too easily. If you could deploy it faster, it would be more useful by allowing players to potentially turn a bad situation around and save their skin. It also just doesn’t block enough damage, and breaks very easily by grenades, or shooting the emitter. I personally always trade it for any other equipment when ever I get the chance to. Anyways, is there anyone else that feels the same way I do, and would like for equipment to be a more integral part of the game?
