I’m just thinking about what Guardians really mean. One of the “Halo 4 Making of” video Lindsay Lockhart (lol LOCKhart) from 343 said that : “in a way Chief is a guardian, Cortana is Chief’s guardian and the Forerunners guardians of their own universe.”
But after that Cortana’s gone they wont protect each other with Chief. Secondly I dont think that Locke guard any thing, max the only other guardian could be Arbiter but his home planet isn’t in danger. So is this title concer to the remain Forerunners?
wat
The Arbiter is dealing with terrorists trying to take him down on the Sangheili homeworld AND Brute raids on Sangheili colonies, that is far from not being in danger. There are guardians everywhere among every species in one form or another.

Basically anyone involved with the UNSC is a guardian of humanity, for example.

Well, a guardian in their own mind perhaps. Then again if they do something they think helps humanity but screws humanity, so much for being a guardian cough ONI cough.
I would argue that Lydus is a “guardian” of the Jiralhanae. So far, he seems like the only one that truly cares about the prosperity of his species.
However, this is all assuming that he isn’t killed-off for shock-value.
Not guardian as in, okay got to guard x thing, simply.
Also, I’ve linked the video where it talks about guardians so many times… good to see other people make the link.
Are we not all guardians, in a way?
And no, I’m not talking Rocket Raccoon here.

Everyone’s the hero of their own story.
If you read the escalation series, Musa makes a remark about the spartan 2s saying that “Are guardians are gone.”
I’m willing to bet that these guardians that will be in halo 5 will be Blue team and the chief.
“Hey guys, what would sound cool as a subtitle?”
And that’s pretty much it. No offense but the justification for the subtitle is kind of silly. “And you’re a guardian, and you’rrrre a guardian, and you’re a guardian…”
You get killed by them
Guardians are going to be the Heroes that protect and save everyone from the “bad guys.”
In the Trailer, Chief is going to be a Guardian again, especially since Thel hints at him being the key to survival. As for Locke, it is unclear what exactly his role will be. I get the feeling that he is going to be the type, that struggles with wrong from right decisions. At least we know he’s playable, that’s awesome lol…
I believe that the title “Guardians” suggests Chiefs and Lockes roles as guardians. Perhaps Locke is guardian of Humanity and Chief is for whole Universe
I believe it is just referring to Forerunners and Humanity. Forerunners were the holders of the Mantle, Guardians of life in the Galaxy. I think it’s just referring to the Forerunner religion. The Precursors intended Humanity to assume that same role. But Forerunners wouldn’t give it up. So I also think it is in reference to the motivations of the Didact. Why he is at odds with humanity.
