Facts:

I have over 17000 DMR kills.

Only 3 in every 10 kills I have is with the DMR (34 per cent). Again, only 3 in every 10 kills is with the DMR!

I only use the DMR on Ragnarok and Longbow.

I had used it in Complex but, no longer.

On rare occasions when I’m out of ammo, I’ll pick up the closest weapon on the ground, including the DMR on any map.

Background:

Halo Reach was my first Halo game. Me and my DMR went every where together. We had good times and, not so good but, we always stuck together. No other weapon caught my eye and got the love and attention that my DMR did. We were inseparable!

I did kind of cheat on my DMR. You see, some time after Halo Reach came out, I played the campaigns for Halo 3 and Halo 3 ODST for the first time. Then,I played a very short time on Halo 3 MM. I touched and used the BR! I did not like the old graphics, strange silly almost cartoon like movements of our player charterers in MM and other things…I quickly hurried back to my love, the DMR and Halo Reach.

Halo 4

From launch day, I was over joyed to be reunited with the love of my virtual life, the DMR!

We slaughtered together on Ragnarok and Longbow. We killed and killed and killed again the Lemmings who ran across open fields and launched from Man Canons…it was bloody and exciting fun. We laughed and giggled and wondered why people wouldn’t learn their lessons! We still hang out together on Ragnarok and Longbow but, we have parted ways on all other maps a long, long time ago.

My DMR knows that I have a love for all the weapons that Halo 4 has to offer. My DMR knows that the BR gets some of my attention, as does the AR, LR and Suppressor. Ordnance drop weapons and pickups also get some tender love and care…they all enjoy being used to kill other Spartans.

The race to change

My DMR knows that I am very happy about the proposed changes that 343i has mentioned recently. My DMR is not impressed that I actually will be very happy to continue using the BR on all 4v4 maps in conjunction with the AR after they get their proposed buffs.

My DMR is extremely unimpressed about the RRR buff to the LR.Why? Because she knows I’ll be using the 4skLR on Ragnarök and Longbow! But, not is all lost for my first love, teh DMR, as on Ragnarok and Longbow, I’ll use Firepower and Ammo and rock with the LR/DMR combo.

Finally:

Just as the BR is a classic for many who started out with Halo 3, for example, so too is the DMR for some of us that started out with either Halo Reach or Halo 4.

There is room in Halo now and into the future for both the BR and DMR. But, I love all weapons…and,back to where I started, the DMR accounts for only 3 in every 10 of my kills!

30% of your kills with ONE gun is A LOT when there are <mark>7 starting rifles</mark> and <mark>3 secondarys</mark> that you can use. you have to be able to see that. that doesn’t even take into account for the ordinances.

Perhaps but, we don’t get many of the Ordnance Drop and pickup weapons frequently enough to reduce the percentage meaningfully. Over time, though, the percentage will decrease and continue to do so. Again, 3 in 10 kills is not many. I predict by years end, it will be 1 in 10 kills, or less!

I don’t have figures, but my story… I enjoyed Halo 2’s BR better than Halo 3’s BR. Reach’s DMR is probably my all time favorite rifle, but Halo 4’s Light Rifle is growing on me quickly. Plenty of room for all the rifles/automatics/pistols once 343 strikes the right balance.

PS, what is RRR?

My first love admittedly, would be the original assault rifle. That thing got me through thick crowds of covies/flood and LAN multiplayer action with a handy-dandy backup like the pistol or shotgun, life was very different back in the good old days.

Halo 3 didn’t bode well for me, the campaign nor the MM so the BR never really won me over.

That changed when the awsomeness that is Halo: Reach came into the picture and well. . . a new world of adventure with halo’s campaign and MM began. I totally agree with you OP, there are many new opportunities to be had, but the ultimate fall-back can never be replaced.

I love my DMR too!!

Unlike many who post threads about the DMR on here, opposing it (DMR), with lies and half truths which I expose by going to their game histories and stats.

how is 30% of your kills NOT that many?

anther question is HOW do you have almost 7,000 kills with the Plasma grande? alo HOW CAN you play Ragnarok so much? that ONE map accounts for 48% of your kills(27434 out of 57,677).HOLY CRAP another 30% of youur kill come form Exlie. that is <mark>80%</mark>! of your kills come from TWO! maps! how can you play the same crap over and over?!?!?!.

Halo 4 was my first real Halo MM experience. I leveled up a bit, unlocked the first set of weapons after the AR/Magnum starter. I’d played Reach, and I was familiar with the DMR, so I choose to try out the Battle Rifle for the first real time.

I first played Halo:CE back when it was released in 2001 at a friend’s house. I LOVED playing that campign! Mhmmm! The Plasma Rifle was my favorite weapon, mostly because it was dark blue. I like blue :slight_smile:

My first online experience was Halo 2. It was one game, so very long ago. I hardly remember it. It was at a friend’s house.

However, the first online game I owned was Halo 3. I was instantly the best out of all of my friends that loved Halo also, but that Battle Rifle, oh that sweet Battle Rifle…if not the BR than I’d pick the Carbine. I loved precision weaponry.

ODST and Wars passed. Because of the lack of the BR in ODST I used the Carbine to a very large extent.

Halo: Reach hit. Once again, precision weaponry. The DMR I liked. A lot. I didn’t complain that the BR was removed, but I’d have liked it in.

Halo 4 comes out. I heard the DMR was the best weapon before the game was released, so I used the heck out of that. It’s my ToD Recently, I’ve realized that the DMR is a teeny-bit OP, so I’ve started using the Battle Rifle. Sweet mother of chimp cherries I love it!!! DAT BLEEDTHROUGH! If I were single and if that gun were a woman I’d make sweet love to it next to a fireplace. I think I’m gonna name my BR Gwen. I wanna make the BR my ToD now, but it’ll be a while.

Also, when I saw the Mark VI in Halo 4’s multiplayer it was love at first sight. I used Scout for a while out of nostalgia…but…I love the blue Mark VI that I wear…

343i can release my stats if they want which will show that I don’t vote for any map or, have almost never voted!

I have no control, unless I decided to back out of a lobby avoid JIP etc, over what maps I play.

It is, therefore, not my fault that the stats are what you show them to be. Sure,you can say I should vote but,my single vote doesn’t change a thing when the majority choose those maps so often. I’ll play any map that comes up.

I have:

121 Oddball games;
254 Dominion games (almost mastered);
318 KOTH games;
632 CTF games (Mastered); and
many Extraction and other game types played too.

Yes, I like BTIS, but I also play Infinity Slayer, Flood, SWAT, Regicide and Rumble Pit.

I’ve mastered Slayer…I’ve almost completed Vehicles(only a handful of Mongoose and Wraiths to go);I’m almost done with UNSC Ordnance Mastery…

My stats are what they are…I’m fine with them and I’m working to decrease my DMR stat and map stats…were doing so before you took exception to them!

Actually, I didn’t!

I only missed out on Halo 3 MM.

After some months of Halo Reach, I then completed Halo 3 and Halo 3 ODST campaigns for XBox360 and Halo CE for PC. We have Halo 2 for PC and Xbox but I haven’t played them. We have Halo Wars too.

As for MM,I started out with Halo Reach and after I completed the campaigns mentioned above, I tried Halo 3 MM for the first time…it last a handful of days and games before I went back to Reach MM. Having played Reach first, Halo 3 MM seemed very outdated to me.

Had I been around to play Halo 3 MM in its hey day, perhaps I’d feel differently as many of you do.

It was my weapon…along with AC.

But, now I only have AC/DMR in one load-out and I use that on Ragnarok and Longbow only.

I have:

AR, PP,PG,Autosentry,Wheelman, Explosives

AR, BS, Frag, Hologram, Mobility, Gunner/Sensor

AR, BR, Frag, Hologram, Firepower, Dexterity

As above but with PV

AR, DMR, Fraf, AC, Firepower, Ammo

…I ma really trying to distance myself,as best as I can, from AC and DMR. But, common sense and logic dictates, I still use them on the two maps mentioned.

I do love the DMR but,I’m diversifying and I can’t wait for the buff to teh LR, I will then not be using the DMR at all, or I might rock with teyh DMR/LR combo on thsoe two maps only.
