I’m not completely sure where to post this, so I am putting this here. If it needs to be moved, mods, go ahead and do so.
So I got a McFarlane Toys Halo 5 Buck figure recently, and something seemed off about it. When I looked closer, it appeared the left shoulder stuck out too far. After comparing it to several stock photos, along with my brother’s Spartan Helljumper, the shoulder does stick out too far. I’ve removed and tried to put it back in, but it still sticks out. Does anyone know how I could fix this?
Funny thing about finding this figure was that the Target I found it at still had three of the exclusive red Halo 4 Spartan Soldiers at full price ($13.99), while the Helljumper and Buck were just sitting in a clearance area at a reduced price ($9.06).
Just wanted to add my thoughts on the figure.
Articulation is there, standard current McFarlane articulation, but the armor design is very restricting.
Hands kinda suck, can’t hold a gun properly without cutting them.
Paint is very nice, incredibly accurate to the game. Includes the name printed onto the chestplate, along with a little heart with a “V” in it with an arrow going through it, plus a faint ODST insignia. Visor is brighter than I would like though.
For some reason they gave him a Hydra and a Magnum, instead of an Assault Rifle and Magnum.

I didn’t realize it was out either. I just went to Target hoping there would be a Chief or Fred figure, and instead found some Halo 4 figures plus Buck and the blue Helljumper.
How does the shoulder connect to the other parts because if its a ball joint I have no clue but if it just pegs in pull it out get a torch and look inside the hole and if you see a lump try and use something to get rid of that lump or if the lump is on the peg (most likely) file until the lump is gone be careful you don’t file to much of because if you do the joint will no longer fit correctly and will constant fall out.
It will all come down to a small gap in the mould that has allowed the plastic expand out of shape whist in production.
The shoulder has a peg with a ridge in it, designed to fit into a hole with a groove in it. I’ve been considering trying to run the peg under warm water to soften, then trying to peg it in.

You can decided if you want to try it and fix it but be absolutely sure you don’t over do it or you will completely ruin the toy if you make one small mistake.
I know this because in my spare time I design and make thing and this was a problem I encountered the same problem making a fully articulated snake and that was how I fixed that problem.

Since its a peg it is more then likely what I said earlier with it being a lump on the peg or in the hole.
Count you self lucky it wasn’t a ball joint because it would almost be imposable to fix by hand and if it was I would just but a new one.
I’m not at my house right now, so I think I’ll try filing down the peg a bit and clean out the hole when I get back.
The visor isn’t seated quite right on mine. Had the same issue with the Chief. I hadn’t noticed the extra paint apps on his chest, though. Nice catch. I hope the Mattel stuff is as detailed.
The visor on mine has an extra bit of paint that extends onto where the black border should be. The shoulder issue on mine isn’t major, as it doesn’t ruin the articulation. It just looks kind of weird.
Also, the Hydra seems to be missing the red outlines by the mini-missiles. Does yours not have the lining or is it just my figure?

I don’t think the shoulder plate is too long because it sits right up against the shoulder. What I mean is that the left shoulder joint is more obvious than the joint on the right. I’d post pictures but I’m not sure I can.

Ah, okay. I thought you were talking about the plate. If they haven’t changed the design for the shoulder joint (I wouldn’t know because I haven’t gotten any figures since Reach) then I wouldn’t know of any way to safely pull the arm out. If you can’t find a way either, I’d look into the return policy of wherever you bought it from or check out Mcfarlane’s customer service.
I’m curious as to where your at that the figure has been released. I’m in Ohio and normally toys r us has them all in stock but I’m not showing a release of the series 2 figures until March 15. He will be the only one I buy out of this series since there is a lack of “good” figures. No bad guys just buck and a bunch of Spartan variants.
on a side note does anyone know if they will be releasing the Arbiter from H5? Prophets bane and armor looks ssswwweeeeeeet

So they’re only making 2 series? That really sucks because I have Fred, Linda, John, Locke, tanaka. I don’t think that is true. They wouldn’t release half of a team
